So....absolutely nothing to do with putting the wing underside piece in back to front then?

Ian

Ohhhhhh ssssshhhiiiiii.......

how can they even let a thing like that happen. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll make sure the middle struts go in the right place now. :rage:

Bad luck Jont - I hate it when that happens. Better to know sooner rather than later I guess and you've overcome it anyway :)

Do I need a confirmation or is there an initiation ceremony?

John GBs have to have a number of members signed up before they can be scheduled but once they're going all you need to do is let the GB mods know you want to join in by posting in the GB's chat thread. Easy. HTH :)

I think I just figured it out...I checked in on the Floatplane and the Matchbox GB.

Yes, that's it.:penguin: I've never joined one before. Jamie was really nice I think you just ask on the thread and they let you in.

Thanks to every one for the kind and encouraging words/ help/ banter.

I can't believe I managed to glue the under mid wing in back to front. Such an idiot.

Sorry Airfix. No real problems though as I'm just making it work. :D

36475189571_46e6b4f8bc_b.jpg

going well.

But here's the thing about the bat wing. It probably looks more complicated than it is. I do like to keep things simple.

i got the idea from @TonyTiger66 when he was struggling with wing ribs last year.

lets do this with pictures. Are we sitting comfortably?

first off cut your quiche foil. Mine are 1.5 x 1.5 cm square.

35803769603_2ba8a035cb_b.jpg

then smooth off with the edge of a metal ruler.

36216674470_1a9f672259_b.jpg

then using a special expensive never before seen in your life prototype foil bending tool.

36613195215_eb36883fb4_b.jpg

draw a line using a ruler through the middle. Three medium strength passes does me. Ooh err missus.

35803769653_08951a4d51_b.jpg

Then the other way. And I mark the mid points.

36444317792_f5b97c061a_b.jpg

then join the dots.

36475189401_79ebc7d2f9_b.jpg

Spin her over and. Et voila!

35803771383_eed513ab68_b.jpg

Bend along the crease with the ruler as a guide.

36475189341_5ef7a808b5_b.jpg

you gots yer bat wing. :penguin:

35803768053_688bc40b42_b.jpg

hope that helps guys.

thanks for your help. I gotta put the chickens to bed and glued some struts.

Happy Modelling and all the best.

I didn't know that I knew for sure and I didn't know that you knew that I knew, even if I didn't know it! The point is that it is a superior method to that which I used on my 0/400 build.

Martian

PS: I thought I knew what I knew when I started this post but now I don't know anymore!

One last post before beddy byes.

After the news of me sticking the under wing on back to front I needed to fit the mid struts. Guess what? They didn't fit so I got to use ma new toolz.:pilot:

36219172140_def13f74c9_b.jpg

not really what I bought it for but it did the trick.

36219172070_e2d6d91c17_b.jpg

little disc in cut and put in place to bridge the gap.

36446938242_dded0ed8cc_b.jpg

such a great little thing. :penguin:thanks to everyone who convinced me to take the plunge, I can't wait to make more use of it.

Many hoo. Glued in place.

35780598714_4b9fc17bf8_b.jpg

All the struts are now in place and she's strong enough to make aeroplane noises.

36446938352_e04fff855e_b.jpg

a few touch ups here and there but nothing a good gloss coat won't conceal.

last job for the night is to glue the UC s in place.

36219170890_e9ef708b25_b.jpg

I'm feeling quite confident about this old bird now.

thanks again for dropping in.

Happy hoppy Modelling chaps and chapesses.

I prefer to replace the kit parts with my own ones before gluing them on the wrong way round - it gives for a more complete experience...:banghead:

I've no doubts you'll bring this to a conclusion in fine style before the GB kicks off - it is looking damn fine sir.

Loving your foil  Koh-i-Noor BTW. Cunning as a slice of Cunning Cake on St. Cunning's Day.

You got the punch set! Lovely, you won't regret it... even if it doesn't get much use you can get it out and feel the quality (fnarr!)

They also do a little tray to catch the pieces which, as I said in Steve's thread, would be perfect if it also acted as a storage for the punches. OK, I'll order one, you talked me into it.

I hope you've got a big space in that cabinet John, you're going to need it really soon.

I think this is why one builds new cabinets...^_^

Next you'll want an Ilya Muromets...
