Ptmvarsityfan
Hi, Received my Aerovan this morning thanks to excellent service by Hannants and Royal Mail. First impressions pretty good. A rather oversized box but there are a lot of parts packed in the bag. Good choice of colour schemes, my only quibble is that I am not convinced that G-AJOI was white rather than the silver seen on almost all British registered Aerovans. Would like to see evidence as I have seen a couple of pictures of this plane and with rather poor resolution black and white photos from the late forties could be white or silver. Still amazed that we now have a good quality kit of this delightful but largely forgotten plane! Cheers, Paul
pinky coffeeboat
Sounds good. I've got this model on my watch list with Hannants but didn't know it's now available. I think MikroMir really have spoilt us lately - an Argosy, Beverly, MD-11 and now this little beauty. Thanks!! Kevin Callahan
It was on my watchlist too, and I made the order the day it appeared as in stock. Always been a fan of Miles designs, and this one will look fine next to a Short Skyvan! Still a couple weeks til the box arrives here in the US, but once it does this one moves to the head of the production line.
Ivor Ramsden
As Paul says, there aren't many photos around of G-AJOI. There is one on the Air-Britain and Airliners.net website which does make the airframe look white but there is another image taken from the same negative in which the aircraft and the background are a much darker overall tone which to my eyes looks more natural. I would say that in this image the airframe looks to be darker than white. A Google image search for "Sivewright Airways" brings up both of these versions of the image.
Ptmvarsityfan
Thanks for that Ivor, agree that the image of the aircraft on the ground seems to show G-AJOI as silver. The in flight image looks whitish but I think this is probably due to reflection. Will do my model silver in Sivewright markings. Cheers, Paul
