rob Lyttle
So this is where we're at:- The serial numbers were a bit of a challenge but nearly there I managed to find some letraset rubon sheets of 3mm. Rub gently, it said.... Pffff!! I used it for the V.ok I noticed that one of the supplied decals has 8 and 9, so I inverted the 9 and applied them individually, leaving spaces for the 7s, The ribs were my main guide. Rub-on 7s were a fail, plus the font used had put a little curve on the down stroke. So I'm building the 7s with black line decal pieces. The top lines have yet to be added here. This is phase 1 of making the pennant - Coming on......
rob Lyttle
Phase 2 on the pennant :- Concentrated on getting the Navy blue lines looking right. The front can be trimmed in line later. I foiled the whole top cowl and then applied the black anti-glare . The odd little scratch is all part of it in my eye. rob Lyttle
I got issues..! 1. My phone has decided it can't take pictures due to lack of storage. Pffff.. 2. I've trimmed the front lip from the very front of the fuselage as per the instructions, but that was for the DH spinner. Do I need to rebuild the lip? The Rotol looks happy up front. I'll see if I can get a pic as far as flickr to post Here we are... More generally, does this look like I'm on the right track? rob Lyttle
That little collar needs rebuilding to come out flush to the back of the spinner, doesn't it? I trimmed it off early in the build, before I learnt about the various prop options.
rob Lyttle
So, a bit of sprue stretched over a brush handle trim up and stick on Gonna need a rub over but the gap is gone. Edited June 24, 2017 by rob Lyttle
Troy Smith
Looks better Rob the first pics there looked to be too much of a gap between spinner backplate and nose. I note the back of box in the background is in focus, so you might be better off drawing your phone back a bit, or if you really want a 'quick and dirty' close up option try holding a lens from a magnifying glass over the phone camera lens. It maybe just an impression, but the insides of the UC doors look grey green, they should be aluminium paint., and dont' forget the yellow prop tips, they are 4 inch, which is 1/12th inch in 1/48th. (or about 2mm) cheers T
