Mancunian airman
Jonny Now I have the fuselage together and the decals on I can Matt spray the lot without a need to mask ANY glazing in the nose, navigators window or the top glass in the top fuselage escape hatches. Here is the briefest of internal structuring that I usually carried out Before putting in the bomb-bay you must remember to add the IP, usually with a pair of long nose pliers You have to bend the bomb-bay a wee bit to get it in but it does go in, add the cockpit seat after you have installed the bomb-bay. You can also see the 'pipe' behind the engine nacelle fronts I mentioned earlier I hope this helps Ian
Jonny
Thanks, Ian ... i really do do like what you're sharing with us. So much so I've ordered (yet) another 'plastic only in a bag' vintage kit off eBay. Time permitting I intend to build a replica of sorts of a 218 squadron Lancaster, 'A - Able':.. because years ago I read a book, The Eighth Passenger, by Miles Tripp. He was a Bomb aimer towards the end of World War. He and his crew flew well over the then usual 30 missions yet survived. It's a h**l of a story and one I've never forgotten. He (Miles Tripp) also wrote Faith is a Windsock, a novel based on his experiences. He also wrote other novels. I did a little research and learned how awfully NCO aircrew were treated after World War 2 ended but before they were released into civilian life. Thankfully Mr. Tripp qualified as a solicitor and I hope and believe he - and his fellow NCO colleagues - enjoyed a good and successful life after the war. Without much recognition by or thanks from a grateful (?????) nation or government I might add. OK, off soapbox, apologies for a rant ... . Way to to go but your build has inspired me. Thank you again Jonny
Mancunian airman
Some progress I have yet to weather both aircraft, the undercarriage is complete and will be inserted when the wing weathering/exhaust staining is done. I have just to finish the painting of the Mid-upper, (always paint in two stages). Each turret needs the gun carriage fixing. Bomb-bay needs inserting and then the pilots station can go in thro the top cockpit section . . . After the weekend, I should get it all completed over the next 3 evenings Jonny I too have read that particular book and look forward to seeing your version of his aircraft.
