He's Starsky,I'm Hutch!

Recommended Posts

Hi folk's I was at my local annual show yesterday happy with my two aircraft purchase's when I spied the familiar red and white Torino

on a traders shelve's as a fan way back when it first aired I had to have it,Our parent's had the Rockford files Canon and Colombo now

us teenager's Had Starsky and Hutch running around and bonnet sliding long before Body and Doyle( it would be a few year's before I

got myself a curly perm and brown leather jacket) So here's a quick build of the Ford muscle car.Just released by Revell I believe it's a

Monogram original nicely molded and flies together I didn't want the bonnet up so first job was to cement it in place,I still built the engine

and fitted it along with the suspension exhaust as per the instructions.

Wheels and engine in place.

And popped the body on for a dry run to check wheel alignment.Next job is to paint the interior.

"Honey-hush!" Sadly, they don't ship to the UK. At least I know they're available. Thanks a lot...

My go to people have this

http://www.kingkit.co.uk/plastic-model-kit-revell-1-24-4927-78-pontiac-firebird-3-n-1-36456.html

the current Revell catalogue has the bandit listed so may be available at car specialist retailer's.

A little done today(must do some house work tomorrow the missus has that look again) I used matt black on the interior

then satin varnish for the seat's door cards etc.

Johan did the Lincoln. Sometimes you can find it as kit but usually its made as they were dealers sales models. It was also issued under the AMT label as a kit

Looking good, Steve, I also got the kit at the show. Glad to hear it went together OK. I've just finished a couple of old Revell kits that fought me all the way but turned out OK in the end. I'll try and get some pics up soon, 53 Corvette Roadster and Mercedes Type 540K Cabrio. Thanks for posting the Torino

Another Stasky and Hutch fan here Steve.

Mrs. T bought the full DVD set for me in Christmas 2015. 2016 was The New Avengers, that also has cool cars; a custom Jag, nice TR7, XJS, more.

Hoping for Columbo box set this Christmas; I love his old Peugeot and all the rich criminal's Ford Mercury cars in the early episodes.

Thats a great red :). I used to have a radio control Starsky and Hutch Torino. Long lost in the annals of time.

Looking forward to the chrome.

Best regards

I can't think about Starsky and Hutch without laughing at that bit from Stan Against Evil.

Stan: I haven't been in here since that gay cop show was on.

Evie: What gay cop show?

Stan:  Starsky and Hutch.

Evie:  Starsky and Hutch weren't gay!

Stan: He was a grown man wearing a belt around his sweaters in the seventies, he was gay. Come on your a cop, you need to notice these things!

All kidding aside that's a fantastic finish using Tamiya paints! You've really put some effort into that final coat. That's some great modeling!  Just an FYI, the orginal car had polished aluminum rims. They are long OOP. The modern replacement is a chrome wheel. So if you want a tv correct car your gonna need to strip and paint those rims.

I've got mixed feelings about that car, years ago a customer brought in a cherry (I mean unbelievably mint) Torino. It was identical to the tv's car except it was dark blue.  The owner had us repaint that wonderful car red. It broke my heart.

Thank's Thud,I can honestly say if someone came along and offered me any car I wanted you can forget your Italian supercars and German

engineering masterpieces I'll have Starsky's torino all day long, seventeen foot of Americam muscle doesn't go unoticed on UK roads, second

choice a 66 Buick Riviera loved them since I was a kid! Anyway said wheel's will have to remain the same but the rest of the chrome going on

I ran a wash into the grille to add a bit of depth.

Rear assembled without any issue.

IMG-20170616-WA0001_zps7brvzbxx.jpg

And no putting it off had to see how the big decal worked........Phew beautiful! beware started at the side you can see by the time it's

smoothed out over to the other side it overhang's the wheel arch, thankfully there's a distinct sharp line on the roof/rear pillar so I cut

it got it in line with the side decal and trimmed along said line the decals are niceand thin but don't show any red through 10/10.

My brother had this exact car!  Well, it was a 1978, with Keystone mags and a 351 Windsor engine.  We rode around in that thing everywhere!  He had an 8-track player, fuzzy dice, and rabbit fur in the back!
