Shuttleworth Gloster Gladiator Emergency Landing

I have just come back from Old Warden ,a good show ,unfortunately the Gladiator had to make an emergency landing ,in nearby field ,it seems the aircraft and the more importantly the pilot are OK

 

Has anyone else got any more news ?

It wasn't sounding very happy during the flypast. Lots of popping from the engine with puffs of smoke. Well done the pilot.

Good to see from Shuttleworth's Facebook page that the Gladiator was towed back to Old Warden without any issues on Monday, and also that the Seafire, after its bumpy landing, was checked over and flew home.

From what I remember there was something wrong with her No.1 cylinder spark plugs, so fuel leaked into the exhaust system, hence the pops and smoke. Then during and after an engine run yesterday, one of the engineers heard something in the same cylinder, so that one is being looked at in the engineering hanger and cylinders No.2 and 3 are being investigated as a precaution.
