Color help please

I'm planning on building a WW2 Carrier, and would like help on what color to paint the hull (below the water line), the main body and the flight deck and island.

 

TIA... this will only be my 2nd ship model.

The typical US Navy WW2 colour was Norfolk 65A Anti-fouling Red.

There were a number of different camouflage schemes applied to the USN carrier fleet during WW2 - and there were two carriers called Lexington.  Are you doing the carrier built pre-war (CV-2) or the wartime Essex-class carrier (CV-16) of the same name?  That will cut the options down considerably.  The latter was known as the Blue Ghost, because it was painted in Measure 21, Navy Blue.  The deck will be Norfolk Deck Stain, I suspect, but it will need confirming.

The CV2 scheme is the one I'm trying to emulate.  I am an aviation modeler, so if possible FSN#s would be very helpful.  TIA.

FSNs didn't apply, being a postwar invention.  USN colours are available from a number of sources, including Sovereign Hobbies whose range of Colour Coats are on sale in the US.

Lifted from the old White Ensign site, courtesy of a quick trip to Google.  The numbers in brackets prefixed US are colours in the Colour Coats range, but the names are the official ones and should be on the label of all reputable ranges.

Steel decks & hangar deck—#20 Standard Deck Gray (US 02);

Flight deck—Mahogany Flight Deck Stain (US 15);

Hangar deck bulkheads & overheads—5-U White (C 03);

Boot-topping—Black (C 02);

Underwater hull—Norfolk 65-A Antifouling Red ( US 14).  

 

As-lost, Measure 11 Camouflage

 

All vertical surfaces—5-N Navy Blue (US 08) [NOTE: by this time 5-N had replaced the earlier 5-S Sea Blue in Measure 11);

Steel decks & steel horizontals—20-B Deck Blue (US 10);

Flight deck—Norfolk 250-N Flight Deck Stain (US 27);

Flight deck markings—Norfolk 251-N (Full tin of US 09 + 10 drops US 03);

Hangar deck bulkheads & overheads—5-U White (C 03);

Boot-topping—Black (C 02);

Underwater hull—Norfolk 65-A Antifouling Red ( US 14). "
