Yes - he does seem to be a bit of a dab hand at it don't he........

It always seems a bit of a shame to see a martian interior covered in paint. (I can't quite believe I've just written that sentence - but it does sort of make sense in context - honest )

Yes but how many BMers, least of all Ced,  do you seriously expect to take the remark in context?

HAT

nice, must get me one of them

hat too of course

I think Nick might get in a bit of a huff if you turn up in the same hat! How about this one? Nicely understated I thought.

Hmm

Somehow it lacks the 'je ne sais pas' of your original Martian

Yes

Rather lacking...

Alright, how about this?

I'm sorrry Martian Fifi, it seems you are not in tune with my mojo

I'd best pop down to Montmartre to see if that little mad hatter behind the Moulin Rouge can help

(yes the piglet is amusing but it does not quite do 'it' for me)

As to hats, I had a good look around and thought this might be more your style, if you don't like it I am sure you can flog it to the Baroness. Either way, its suitably inconspicuous for Telford!

Well you've let the cat out of the bag now Martian. Time to come clean everybody at the weekend I is a ladiee and am known as Mavis. I shall start looking for something (un)suitable for Telford.

If two guys wear the same they congratulate each other on their great taste. Two women become instant mortal enemies. No wonder I have issues!

Sadly that yellow will be a challenge to accessorize with the purple glitter Jimmy Choos and lederhosen ensemble I had picked out.

If Bill's not going as a bus, surely we could at least put peer pressure on for him to go as a conductor?

Surely you wore the purple Jimmys at Ladies Day this year at Aintree, good job we chaps don't get our thongs in a twist over such fripperies

I grew out of the bus conductor set when I was five, all the little tickets got soggy when I wore it to ford the Rio Rea that fateful day

I couldn't possibly revive such startling memories

Oh the irony

I have no chance to avoid the Telford dress code

IPMS Brum's excruciating blue shirt and the dayglo fascinator in Dockerblaze.   😕

At least I can be seen from almost anywhere in the International Centre

Mortified so I am - you're right! The transparent Doctor Martins and fake foot tan it is.

We'll never spot you in the throng of adoring females.

How does this stop you wearing the hat?

Ah well, we all have our crosses to bear!

The fascinator Martian, très obligatory

If I wore the hat, surely the dayglo feathers would get a tad ruffled

And of course, ruffling the feathers is reserved solely for the adoring throng

It's a pain but we do for our art what the art needs

Oh dear yes

It is possible that our Martian friend - so frequently horrified by our base terrestrial ways - may have thought the 'fascinator' to be some kind of primitive fertility adornment, akin to an ornamental codpiece. Either way, bright warning colours would seem prudent.

You could have somebody's eye(s) out...

Don't tell us the Baron will be wearing an ornamental codpiece to Telford!!

I'm off to cut some struts for the floats before the image sends be completely and irreversibly round the bend!

Having got a tad jaded with doing nano-engineering on the interior, I decided to start sorting out the floats and assorted struts. I began by measuring up the floats for the beaching gear so kindly donated by Crisp and the cause of this current outbreak of lunacy. It being notoriously difficult to get four points to touch the ground at once, I shall enlarge the inner location holes in the floats slightly. This way the outer pair of wheels will touch the ground naturally and the inner pair can then find their own level.

Next I carved the two firings that go on the outer faces of the floats, allowing the rear outer struts to attach to the floats. I had been dreading this bit for some time but when it came own to it, everything went smoothly. Next up, I cut and shaped front two struts and their cross member. These were then drilled and pins inserted from Albion Alloy's' brass rod. The pins on the cross member had their ends flattened and drilled out to thread through the pins on the forward struts. A tiny hole was drilled inboard of each of these holes to allow for two rigging wires to pass through. I like to use functional rigging where possible on my builds as it allows some adjustment of alignment should anything be slightly out of true when all the strutting is in place. After all we are all human aren't we? Well, I'm not obviously but you get the message.  Meanwhile at a Karel Doorman thread near you.......................

Thanks for looking

Thanks Ced, I am quite pleased as to how the floats are turning out. I just hope I got the mathematics right for the length of the struts. I'm in trouble if I haven't as I have completely forgotten how I worked it out!

I hadn't seen those floats since the beginning, and it's nice to see them back.

Nice gears , well done Crisp! Good point about the wheels levelling!

Those struts are superb!!!

I'll be watching for the next update!!!:penguin:

Thanks Massimo. I think it will be more struts next.

So you move onto micro engineering.........

Whatever looking good

Kev

Thanks Kev. Drilling through the flattened out ends of the cross strut was pretty much nano-engineering anyway, so not much of a break as it turned out!

Thanks Bill.
