Blackburn Roc Floatplane Target Tug

Recommended Posts

Really nice work on the internals Martian :thumbsup2: .

Glad that you've persevered with it, it's going to be worth it, models of unusual  subjects are great :).

Piccies are squished for me too. I wondered if they might be too wide? I haven't tried it yet, but there's a 'resize' option when uploading to Postimg; could work :hmmm: ?

Best regards

Lets test the resize option and see if it makes any difference.

That seems to be better. Perhaps my settings got dumped for some reason.

That image is still being displayed compressed horizontally for some reason Martian. Something weird is going on as I just copied and pasted this from your original over on Postimage and there's no distortion:

Ps. Even squished that detailing looks luscious however!

Odder still, it looks fine here? Thanks for the compliment, although detailing proper has not started yet.

Both the above pictures work for me.

And very nice they are too, Sir!

Please may I have some more?

Thanks Pete. You may indeed have some more pictures, try these:

Thanks Don, lets hope that is the last of that hassle. You guys at least deserve to see what it is that you are heckling me about properly!

Martian,

On my kindle they look distorted, but this happens with a lot of posts - in the same topic I will see some pictures that are "normal", others will be distorted.

Well I have one explanation..........................

but apart from the obvious I can't tell you how to correct it

To save wearing my reading glasses I usually have the laptop set at 125% zoom  et voila egg plane !!

Zoom on 100 % instant diet bit like a Martian ray gun.

Now here is where I talk through rear orifice :analintruder: could it be your pixel/picture size is slightly to large for forum?

I like them all but I think it is a tie between the Blackburn and the Bison as to which is the best looking.

I agree.

I think we shouldn't forget that the Blackburn and the Bison both were, in first place, flying nautical charting tables... and you woudn't spread your precious charts in the slipstream, would you?

Let's look at them from the inside out, comfortably seated in the enclosed observer cockpit.

Those large portholes are a really nice touch by Blackburns, IMHO. The shop-window style in the Bison has a more pedestrian look. Lack of a crow's nest is perhaps the greatest shortcoming in the original naval requirement.

I'm really sorry to bring it up but...

Is anyone else still getting squished pictures on mobile devices?

It is less squished if I rotate eg iPhone or Mrs. T's Sony phone to landscape view.

It's ok on a 13" iPad 13" MacBook and a 15" Dell laptop. (I think it may be a width thing (cue Cedb  ).

Again, :sorry: to bring it up..

Best regards

Yes, keep going with the build, I have to admit I thought it was a what-if before the original pics appeared.

I agree it looks like one but it is real enough. If you re going to do a Roc, why not go for the best looking version?

I cut the picture size on Postimage and they are coming up fine on my screen now.

Don't think so. I have not had this issue before and I haven't changed the camera or anything.

And by a not so strange coincidence an example is winging it's way to a Martian of your acquaintance as we speak. Look out for a build on BM in the future.

tsk, bloody other planetary life forms. Coming here taking our aspect ratio etc etc. X

Jont.

I'm at a loss now. The only thing I can suggest is for us to see what happens when I do the next update. I may well do this sooner than I would normally do so we can see what is going on.

And as for you Mr Spadgent, beware the blurglecruncheon I imported from the Vogon home world just last week: :yikes:

I'll keep my legs crossed.  it's still elongated but pressing ones finger on the offending picture loads it in a new window with the correct aspect. If that helps, which it probably doesn't.

thats the price we pay for using telephones instead of computers. ;)

It was way too hot to sleep last night so I got up and decided to do a bit on this, the best fan in the house is in the Martian cave. Having finally worked out how the winch operator got into this thing, I decided to open up the access doors. This was probably not a wise decision as far too often in Martin world, knowing that a thing can be done, seems to equate with "must be done". Anyway, the doors were cut from the kit's wing centre section panel and a start made on the structure that goes under the rear cockpit floor made.

In other news, I fettled the rear fuselage decking so that the profile matches the original more closely.

Thanks for looking

What are these visual telephones you infer? Sounds like the ravings of a Mad Man to me Sir? What next I ask. Aircraft with but a single wing and no rum barrel?

These are important points.

What's that grey and white thing that makes an occasional appearance?

Blackburn Blackburn. Now there's the epitome of British Aircraft design. I suspect it could probably get up to double figures with a tail wind.

By the way my Airian friend where do you find the information to detail these wondrous builds of yours? Much better use of time than hibernating on the journey here. I just watch porn....

Of course its the ravings of a mad man, He's following one of my threads for heaven's sake!

The grey and white thing is in fact the model we have been waffling on about, although you may be forgiven for forgetting tht we are supposed to be building a model here!

As to information, it comes from  many years of tipping out museums and archives. In other words making a right pain of myself until people tell me what I want to know in order to make me go away. Sound like any alien you might know?

Hello Martian,

Very good job, You're far from my own build.... And you've told about the pace of an asthmatic snail with a bad limb, so.. I must be slower than that

Think that cutting the front retractable area from the Crystal parts will equally difficult....

I mind myself for opening the 2 sliding doors from the back of the turret, luckily enough, I have a second Crystal top turret, just in case....

Still must find where's the electrical connection and will see if I can find a 1/48 generator.

I really appreciate your job

Sincerely.

What a nice thing, definitely want her in my Naval collection, she's a must

She has lots of nice curves, kinda like a Spitfire....

Thank again.

Sincerely.
