Hello,

I have recently completed my scratchbuild of a 1/48 Korean War era Mig15 bis. The model is mostly constructed from wood and is nearly 100% scratchbuilt with only the cockpit interior and pilot not scratch built. The complete build log is contained in this thread.

I started at the end of November 2016 and have finished in May 2017 so It's been about a six month long project. I am reasonably happy with the outcome, have greatly enjoyed the exercise, and owe much thanks to all of the britmodeller members who have offered advice and encouragement along the way.

Here are the photos for your perusal and comment.

Beautiful job Reconcilor!

Being scratch built I know exactly what had to go into this to achieve this marvelous model!

Congratulations!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, pleased you are enjoying seeing the final product. It was a lot of fun to do and made me stretch my skills on occasion. It's an excercise I'd recommend to anyone with a bit of modelling experience, access to some basic tools and a desire to have a go. After all, it's only a model, if it all goes wrong on the first go, so what? Just try again. This isn't open heart surgery. ❤️

That is a truly impressive piece of modelling. I followed the thread with great interest and will follow your next one even though it lacks the all-important wings. There will be opportunities to learn new techniques - aleays a draw fro a fellow scratch-builder.
