Navy-ating Bucc's fizz - On the deck at last

Recommended Posts

Thank you Johnny, nothing much to report except the best bit

Postimg.cc is working again on all my postimage sets all over

When we got clobbered I asked em to sort it at their end but they don't hold the key to access at this or other forums so they suggested a fix that our admin ( TAKE A BOW MIKE) could try on our site

Mike got on it and has heroically fixed the whole blooming thing

So it looks like calm can settle over our little community again...

I have been casting more pieces

Extra Gannet and S1 and S2 wheels, Palouste bits and camera packs

I have a problem with camera packs, it is almost impossible to cast around corners and remove bubbles in the resin so I'm going to remould a decent one with changed bits to stop air trapment

Today I am filling holes in Frog model jet intakes, which you have all been too polite to mention, ta!

Also attempting to spray Appliance White on a couple of Paloustes

And popping to the post office, got to cash a postal order from the folks for the midnight tuck feast tomomrrow

Ooh yarrooo you beasts leggo...

No seriously

There's no feast, no blimmin postal order either, that was a brutalised, gentler world back then

😲😱😟😔😖😭

Postimging again

Some of the superglue has been reshaped and so has some of the filler bits in the jet intakes, lots more to do there but I had the camera out for a Sea Vixen in another thread, so...

P1010272.jpg

Missing vgs added, fold line reinstated

The camera pack has afiller strip on the edge on the real thing

Mine didnt, then but now

P1010273.jpg

The underwing fold line needs adding when the rest of the superglue has been sanded flat

I have to find decent photos of the weapons pylons, there are practice bomb carriers and a Palouste to hang under the white one so I need to make new ones and I am a bit dubious about cutting down the Frog pylons which are perfect for a Martel fit on the next one, an S2

The Palouste ready to fly

P1010278.jpg

The moveable panel that covers the air compressor outlet has had its rounded cap added, a small carefully calculated drop of cockpit glue does the trick

Further panel lines will be added after consulting the orrible orackle...

Anniversary of the build coming up in a couple of weeks.

And we're on page 76.

Are there any plans for marking the auspicious occasion??😃

Hmm...

Might make it to 77

But I am not planning to add the S2 to the list, that's a RAF machine, users to be decided

Decided

208 Sqn because I just happen to have some bits of a suitable Modeldecals sheet left after my long-ago T4 Cranberry

Sorted

😁

Doh

I bet they were not noted Martel operators though...

What to do...

Rewrite history.

Pretend that the RAF never happened; call 208 by its original name [“Naval 8” - 8 Squadron RNAS]; build a Naval jet.

Simples.

208 were Martel equipped, however I think it might have only been in the wraparound scheme from the early 1980s, as they were Nuke strikers in their earlier period.

100% agree with Barons para!

And paint it PC10 (uppersurfaces) and unbleached linen (under)!

Perfect.  Perhaps with those red & white only early roundels.

Martel, Schmartel; this would be a great model.  Not so much What-If, but What-If-Not.

In other news

The wing sections sit undisturbed whilst awaiting a new batch of casting rubber (couldnt order more last weekend, the supplier was on holidays but it is ordered now and  en-route)

I will spray the whole surface with silicone lubricating spray which is normally used to ensure PVC waste pipes slip into each other when assembling pipe runs and after it dries add another layer of rubber to make the pouring mounds

Waiting for that meant I had time to remember needing to open out the intake holes on the Froglet Buccy which is going to have intake blanks

(when I can work out which blanks were service gear in place of some museum ones I see which dont look worth making for a carrier deck)

So slightly open here but needing yet more filling at the fuselage edge

P1010296.jpg

Double hole mini intakes OK?

Also been making the homing doohickeys leading edge antennae for the Matchbox ones which are entirely devoid of, well? Anything...

No pictures yet this time  :)
