modelman182
Hi Folks Just been having a look at an Airfix Seafire FR.46/47 kit I picked up second hand and wondered whether I could build it as a Mk.22 Spitfire. The kit seems to have the bits (windscreen, Rotol prop and Rudder base), but is there anything else I should look out for (other than the Griffon nose bumps, which I would have replaced anyway)? Troy Smith
comparing the sprue's off the 22/24 kit https://www.scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=105836&p=inthebox note there is a dowload of the instructions on this page with the Seafire 46/47 https://www.scalemodellingnow.com/hn-airfix-supermarine-seafire-frmk4647 looks like Airfix just added another sprue. modelman182
Many Thanks, Troy In fact, double thanks! I hadn't known that Scalemates also had sprue shots and instructions. Use them a lot to check out originators, tooling versions and decal options of kit releases - should've looked a bit more thoroughly when I was there! That's enough info for me to go ahead and get some new decals and turn that kit into a post war Spit (County of Nottingham Auxiliary) using Xtradecal's sheet. gingerbob
When originally released, the "Seafire" kit did not give 5-blade prop or non-stinging tail, and vice versa for the Spitfire kit. More recent issue has opened the gates and gives all. Or so I understand, which seems borne out by the kits I've accumulated.
