Alpha Delta 210
Hi I spent a wonderful day at Duxford on Friday 26th hoping to catch some arrivals and practice displays, and was pleasantly surprised by the number of movements. The Rafale display was very dynamic and highly impressive. I understand that two Rafales overflew the airfield before landing at Cambridge, so hope that the display Rafale over the weekend will be the specially marked one. Here are a few quick edits from today in no particular order and taken in the standard "tricky" Duxford lighting conditions. BBMF Lancaster PA474 is undergoing maintenance in the new Stephenson Hangar by the Aircraft Restoration Company. Sorry for the image quality, but it was taken through glass. Thanks for looking.
canberraman
Great shots as ever in some beautiful weather. It looks like the Duxford show will be a good 'un. Mark
Parabat
Cracking shots AD, some excellent pics of some interesting aircraft. Different to see camo on the Navy Wildcat and nice to see the Bronco.
janneman36
Very nice report and indeed Duxford is tricky with lighting.. Nevertheless i am going every year to the Flying legends and always got the nicest pics of the year... Simply love it .....

Alpha Delta 210
Hi Paul. Thanks for the kind words. I'm pleased you enjoyed them. The Stephenson Hangar was opened last September, according to this article: https://www.raf-ff.org.uk/historical-news.asp?info=Aircraft+Restoration+Company+reveals+spectacular+new+hangar+at+IWM+Duxford I heard the Mustang request an engine test and then taxi round the jet pan before returning to the ARC compound. I thought it looked quite cool!
Latinbear
Those are stonking pictures and all the more so given the position of the sun and what a great day for it too. Hard to pick favourites but the top passes of Sally B, the vapour around the Rafale, the ground shot of the Wildcat and crew member and the Bronco stand out for me.Almost more tempting to attend the day before rather than the show days themselves!
Jinxman
lovely set - thanks for sharing, hopefully the weather will be as good for the next couple of days. The Lanc looks like like it is undergoing some ongoing work - does anyone know when it will be back on the circuit?
Alpha Delta 210
Thanks Jinxman. We had a heavy shower this morning, but a lovely afternoon. PA474 was scheduled to be returned to the BBMF in April, but I'm not sure when she will return to flight.
Alpha Delta 210
Here are some images from the show today. The wind was gusting up to 26 knots on occasion, meaning that some of the displays were cancelled, which was a shame because this show was reported to be one of the longest to be held at Duxford. I really enjoyed the Sea Vixen display, so was saddened to hear of it's gear up landing on returning home. Hopefully, she will be repairable. My favourite display was the highly impressive Rafale. In my opinion, it was a much more exciting and dynamic display than the RAF Typhoon (and it looked great!) Thanks for looking.
Snitok1983
The Bronco looks just like a real wild stallion!!! Surrprised te MiG-15 in a great conditionn!!!! Very welll
Paul J
Fascinating pics! Stunning. The Bronco showing a message on its top sides is interesting. The one I would have loved to have seen today is the Norseman. Very rare in these parts indeed. Shame about the Sea Vixen though. Sounds a very expensive fix if it does get fixed. That Rafale is smart too. Any more pics coming??
Alpha Delta 210
Hi Snitok. Pleased you liked the pictures. The MiG-15 will be based in the UK for the summer air show season. Hi Paul. Thanks for the kind words. The Bronco's wing message was "Lest we Forget", and the fuselage sides were decorated with poppies. The Norseman was lovely, and I only wish that it had formated with the Beaver, instead they did a very loose tail chase. I am back at the show tomorrow, so I guess there will be some more pics on the way!

Paul J
Incidentally I have only ever seen two Norseman. Both in Canadian Museums. But would still love to have seen a flying one. Hope it comes back again sometime. Also the Bronc seems to ahve a date across the tailplane too, Last time I saw one was probably this one overflying my house on its way west last year... I think heading for VL in July. And before that at a Mildenhall show or somewhere like that.

I will check my images later to see what the date on the Bronco is.

Thanks chaps. They have just announced the timings for today's show and it is 30 minutes shorter than published. The absence of the Sea Vixen would not account for the difference, so I wonder if there have been additional cancellations.

Alpha Delta 210
Hi all Some images from today. The wind had dropped from gusting 26 knots yesterday to less than five knots today, so everything flew, except the Sea Vixen (for obvious reasons) and the MiG-15 (for reasons unknown.) It was wonderful to see the Sopworth Pup's first public display. For Paul J, the script on the horizontal tail of the Bronco reads "1914-18". According to Ben Dunnell, who was commentating, the aircraft is marked in this way because it is based in Flanders. I know there are a few serving and ex Para Reg guys here, so the first ones are for you! The rest are in no particular order. Thanks for looking.
