leekslap
Hello and good day, images below of my first model (build?) for....35 years, and boy, did I make some mistakes along the way. Making the model that is.....so, side on view: and a few more..... Many lessons learnt, e.g. thin your paint dummy. Also, and this may be beginners bad skills, but the Revell kit was an absolute dog, very challenging to make the front section work at all. My next project is an Eduard Yak 1b....should be like stepping into a warm bath after the revell experience. And finally:

djos
First model and you start with very challenging camouflage.....brave I am not joking results are very very good. Only what can be done better are exhaust traces should not look like dirt but more like smoke. But very good re-begging, welcome back Best regards Edited May 26, 2017 by djos
TheLurker
Looks very good to me and you won't catch me putting photographs of my "return to the fold" build up at any price. Oh dear me no. Edited May 26, 2017 by TheLurker

Troy Smith
Hi Leekslap did you notice my post in your intro post? Good job, you got it finished, and you have learned some lessons. The kit is not a Revell kit in origin, it's a rebox of a ICM kit, The Revell boxing is likely to have better decals. EDIT - a build here http://modelingmadness.com/scott/axis/luft/me/109/icm109f.htm has some hints and tips on dealing with construction,a bit late but sort of things always have a search for. (Revell have reboxed a few other ICM kits, Spitfire XVI and Do-215 are two that come to mind) The Eduard Yak-1B is a rebox of an Accurate Miniatures kit, with etch and new decals. build here of the AM kit http://modelingmadness.com/scott/allies/ussr/yak1b.htm and http://modelingmadness.com/review/allies/ussr/laskodiyak1b.htm both with points to watch, don't listen to the colour advice, the Eduard kit is more up to date, looks to have better colour call outs. there is some info on Yak-1 markings here http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/colors/1941-43/1941-43.html from http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/colors/colors.html There is a Russian site with lots of profiles AND photos of Yak's if you like working from photos. The Yak buffs point out a few accuracy glitches in the kit, don't know those of interest or not? cheers T
