stew290
Hello chaps. Quick question; are Thunder Models and IBG the same company? If not, would any of you recommend one over the other, with a view to detail and accuracy? Cheers Stew
JackG
According to the contacts found on there web sites, no. IBG is in Poland, while Thunder is in China: http://www.ibgmodels.com/contact.htm http://www.thundermodel.com/Contact.html Further to that, they don't appear to be linked to each other either. When IBG announced their plans for Scammell transporters, Thunder made a statement they had wish to have known of this sooner, as they would have scrapped their development on the same subject. regards, Jack
stew290
Thanks for that Jack. The reason I asked is because they're both planning to release the same series of Scammell Pioneers, and I fancy the tank transporter and would like to choose the best kit. Have you any experience of either manufacturer?
JackG
The only kit I have from either company is an IBG artillery piece. I was interested in a CMP from IBG, but after reading about shape issues, decided to with Mirror Models. For the Scammells, I'd hold off and see how Thunder Models does with theirs. IBG kind of got reamed for their example, read here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/47208/thread/1492966286/last-1493666245/View+Thread regards, Jack
stew290
I see your point! I hope that the Thunder kit is more accurate. As one of the contributers said, it would seem that IBG have rushed the Pioneer to beat Thunder to it. We'll see, eh? Thanks again. Stew
Nick Belbin
Unless it becomes a Takom / Meng Chieftain-situation repeat. Nick
