100SQN
Hi, I'm considering buying a 1:72 B-17 but I've noticed that the top turret seems to be higher on some versions of the B-17. Is this true ? Cheers, Simon
72modeler
The B-17E and F models used a Sperry turret which had a lower dome with numerous panels with metal framing. The B-17G used a Sperry A-1 turret, which had a taller dome with an angled front face and very little framing. I have attached a link that has excellent photos of this turret. I had no idea that there were more than 2 turret dome variants on the B-17! Arigatogozaimashita! I seem to always end up saving your posts for reference- keep them coming!
