1/48 Saab B 17A by Tarangus - released

Tarangus will release the first ever Saab B 17 in 1/48 scale. Saab B 17 dive-bomber was Saab's first ever aircraft and is today only available in 1/72 scale from Marivox.

The first edition, the B 17 will be released later this year. This is really great news, and I hope that the Saab S 17BS floatplane will follow.

yes, a single one, only used for a short time, due to lack of spare parts and leaking batteries eating through the airframe it was sold back to Sweden after a few years

hope Tarangus includes target tug parts

Release expected next week, according to Max of Rebell Hobby, a co-owner of Tarangus.

Here is me crossing my fingers that it's actually true this time.

Although the box says B 17A, is seems to me that the sprues also have parts for B 17B. Resin floats for the S 17BS and canopy masks also seems to be released in a near future from sister brand Maestro models - or maybe a separate Tarangus S 17BS release.

wow!

did not see this one coming!

I think one of them was even operated in Austria for target towing? duties!

Thanks!

Yes, one Saab B17A for target tugging, but not used often because leaking batteries damaged the airframe and there were no spare parts. So it was mostly a "display" piece. It was replaced with a rented Swedish Skyraider TT and a rented Swedish Fairey Firefly TT.

I guess Tarangus won´t provide Austrian markings....let´s see what the aftermarket will release..

According to Tarangus, a B 17B release will follow. Resin floats are in construction, so it will be possible to build the S 17BS! A canopy mask is also on its way - thanks for that! :)
