HMS K12 and K22 - 1/350 scale subs from MikroMir

Recommended Posts

Finally finished - the MikroMir 1/350 scale kit of HMS K15 - which I have built as HMS K22 (ex-K13).

I also converted another K15 kit as HMS K12 - with a raised fordeck in front of the bridge.

The WIP is here - from months ago.

They aren't the best models I have ever made -  lost my modelling mojo halfway through - hence the long tome to complete.

Anyway FWIW, here are the photos.....

HMS K22 - straight from the box....

Here's all the K-Class I've made so far......

.... and here's a composite showing the differences in this unusual class of steam-powered subs....

Saw these in the flesh on Sunday Ken - Sorry that I didn't get a chance to speak to you.

I really admire your work - lovely presentation and your paintwork is immaculate.  I like the restrained weathering.

They looked absolutely fab, as they do here.

I sent them scale drawings of the K-Class and HMS Resolution - and both are now kitted by MikroMir.

They are very amenable to suggestions and help with drawings and data - but they need cross-sections for complete accuracy.

British subs are woefully under kitted - probably due to lack of information.

A great result Ken. I am pining for a decent 1/350 Oberon class. I don't suppose you could have a word in MikroMir's ear!

cheers,

Pappy
