TimMather
seems im forever doing things red or white! so this build will be the big boy, im hoping to have it done in 6 months to take to telford. its the sazabi ver ka kit, with both infinite dimension resin upgrade sets(ID are the rolls royce of resin upgrades the 2 sets cost me 200 quid) ive also got a full set of metal thrusters and pipes and ive got huge sheet of photoetch for this kit. il be braking the kit into 3 parts(legs and waist, upper body, backpack and the shield and weapons) that way il have less chance of losing a part and will stop me from getting bored. ive not started yet as i wanted to have a proper spring clean of my room but heres the stuff ive got and il show some reference pics for people not familier with these upgrades... the kit is huge to start with... heres the PE set, some of it wont be used as shoulders and fuel tanks are being scrapped for resin versions. and the 2 infinite dimension resin upgrade sets, 1 is mostly the body parts, the second is a redesign of parts for the outside of legs, new backpack funnel holders, new fuel tanks and new weapons. also metal thruster set... ive also got loads of little bits of PE il add as i go and one other change is i bought of these special pipes from korea.. il be using all HIQ decals for the warnings, as i do with all my mechs now.. and i got some logo decals custom printed, so will use the sazabi and S01 logos(the actual font is white but its blick for the photo) so thats about it, probably gonna be a few weeks of cleaning and prep, so will post when i have something to show
rockpopandchips
Holy cow! It would take a loto win for me to buy that lot, very impressed with those added parts, particularly like the power cables not seen those before. Looking forward to seeing you build this Tim, and idea on colour yet?

Pete in Lincs
Those comparison pictures show quite some difference. It should be very impressive when finished. What happens to all the bits you don't use? Will you end up with enough parts to build a Gundam of your own design?

R0ver
Very cool project and it's really going to be on a different level with all the mods too. Would like to try building a Bandai gundam once I have more experience. They look expertly designed.

Will definitely need to stock up on alligator clips in that case. I had wondered what the best way to go about painting these is, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Makes things a little bit simpler. I actually got a bit ahead of myself and ordered a Strike Freedom MG last night (backordered for a few weeks). Really looking forward to seeing your build. That backpack with the propellant tanks looks unbelievably cool.

Good luck with it, your not going to look back once you start building gundam kits.

Re. the kit, I did see the Freedom 2.0, but if I'm not mistaken, the Strike Freedom is another suit altogether, no? I did very basic research on the story and thought the Strike Freedom was a battery fueled suit, as opposed to the nuclear-powered Freedom. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I know next to nothing about Gundam (for the meantime), although I might order the 2.0 as well seeing as it's quite affordable. Here's the one I ordered: https://hlj.com/product/BAN948083 And the 2.0: https://hlj.com/product/BANN04883 sorry for hijacking the thread by the way!

TimMather
just still prepping, sanding nubs and getting rid of mold seams. i can show you afew little bits and bobs though. the panel lines on the plastic look ok but i want panel lining to be super simple so ran a scriber through all the plastic panel lines, looking at the resin parts they have resrcibed already to make deeper so wasnt that much of a job. also with deeper panel lines with masking off panels you just have to put tape over the whole thing and can use a sharp knife and run it along panel lineto cut perfect mask. these pistons had little bit of work, the left one is original where the plastic runs length of the middle, took that away. these 2 parts of the front skirt are the worst parts out of everything in all of the resin, they made the pour holes in totally the wrong place and it makes the bottom vent all wonky. something like this you need to be super careful, try and cut too close and you can just snap it. so cut only ware it is uniform, and then start rasping away, people worry about dust, but keep a bowl of water on hand so rasper and resin part stay wet and youll have no problems. once youve got the correct angles and straght lines, you can use a sanding stick that flexes to round off corners. i tried to get the inside as neat as poss, but there was just not enough resin there, so had the idea to thicken and neaten it up, and luckily i had these tiny bits of photoetch that fitted perfectly. so glued them in place and once everythings painted with abit of panel lining on them they should look great. TimMather
well tonight was a total waste of time, i put parts in ultrasonic cleaner yesterday, rinced off, cleaned tuper ware, dried it and then lined with paper towel and left to dry for 24 hrs, this evening was all ready to paint, new filter on extractor all ready to go and start putting parts on sticks and i start these tiny drops of grease on alot of the parts, and i come to find out that a family member was frying up bacon and was doing it next to my parts, FFS so i had to clean them all off again and now they are drying off in a safe place out of the way of everything. so was in the mood for modelling with nothing to do. so in the end i thought i may as well photograph some of my old kits with the new camera and lighting set up. heres some of the highlights. i swear sooner or later you will see some actual modelling on the sazabi lol
Thud4444
I think I've posted it before, but I love that Saber Fang. Fantastic bit of modeling. I wish I'd bought that Shield Liger when it was available.
TimMather
right now we are rolling. primed about 2/3rds this morning, did all the parts that will end up flat painted for the inner frame. im only doing afew inner frame parts metallic and they will just be done with glossblack onto straight plastic, then metallic coat. i use lacquer gloss black and metallic so will be able to do that in one go. i did alot of the priming in white, as some bits of parts will be white. so il get on with putting so colors down tomorrow, oh by the way the primer i use is alclad. these are the metallic parts and the red armor.
