phildagreek
Progress, well some, but slow and steady wins the race. Focusing on the turret currently and building up the stowage, I messed around for a little while with the idea of stowage "shelves", where gear could be piled and then strapped down, but they didn't look right and I wasn't happy so I've decided that it will have lockers on the turret side and a basket. M247 - 20 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 19 by phil da greek, on Flickr It's pretty easy to spot what I've done, it all needs a little refinement. On the turret's left side the kit part is a protective shield for when the radar drops down into it's travelling position. It's too good a stowage place not to use it, so I've put a bottom in and a little back wall, there will be room for the radar to sit down if I go that route. Thanks for looking, plodding on.
Gremlin56
Certainly gives a different look to the turret. When the paint job pulls it together with all straps, gear etc. added this will be very, very nice
Carius
Excellent progress and upgrade on the turret
phildagreek
Bit more of an update, after a busy weekend I found a little time this afternoon to tidy up and titivate the turret. M247 - 21 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 22 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 23 by phil da greek, on Flickr Onto the lower hull, the white plastic shows the beginning of the skirt mountings. M247 - 25 by phil da greek, on Flickr And then, a little tease of how she's going to look. I hope. M247 - 26 by phil da greek, on Flickr As always, thanks for looking.

FrancisGL
The turret could pass perfectly through the cockpit of a Mech, very interesting ..., cheers Phil
phildagreek
On with the skirts. Having looked a few designs and deciding that this was going to be a what if from the late eighties I got the plastic card and straight (ish) edge out and got on with it. M247 - 27 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 28 by phil da greek, on Flickr If you're into bolts (and who isn't?) These are CMK's 2mm Hexagonal bolt heads, 44 in a pack for about £6.00 from Hannants. M247 - 29 by phil da greek, on Flickr An idea for what it will look like, however the project is stalled 'cos I've run out of bolt heads. So while I wait for the Postie I'll get on with making dinner. Laters.
phildagreek
So the Postie came, dropped off my package and progress resumed: M247 - 30 by phil da greek, on Flickr Doesn't look too shabby, everything lined up-ish, drop some undercoat on and see what happens: M247 - 31 by phil da greek, on Flickr I think that looks alright, definitely worth the effort and expense, now that they're on I can't imagine it without them. They may not be rivets but do feel free to count 'em. Work has been suspended currently as the shed has taken on the temperature of the sun & we have to go move the youngest one tomorrow from one set of Uni digs to another. So I'm hoping for it cool off a little and for me to get some more time in before work resumes at the weekend. Laters.

phildagreek
Update....... M247 - 34 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 33 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 32 by phil da greek, on Flickr That's the colour on, as it's a what if from the late eighties, I've gone for an early almost Sinai Grey. The paint is still very fresh and a little wet so it's not the final colour. Some of the pre shading is showing through on the skirts and I like where this is going. So it's time to clean up the shed for the weekend as work calls. Laters.

It was the coolest looking DIVAD proposal IMO tho That's some Command and Conquer-looking business right there! Build is looking great btw ^-^ Gaz
lucasner
I had the same idea about improving this old beast. It is kinda sad how basic and undetailed this model is compared to the real thing. prowler0000
1985. That awefully nice Thatcher harridan was midway thru office. George Michael had a girlfriend, & there was only 1 Back to the Future film. I was a newbie at a major office in the golden mile, & couldn't join the family on holiday. So... My dad gave me the keys to his E-Type for the afternoon (with him as passenger: summink about insurance?!?!), £100 cash & a holiday the following year. THAT JAG!!!!!! I was 17.... *sigh!* But the £100 (& the point of this typing) went on a new pair of shoes, Wendy burger (remember them?!?!), 2010 the year we made contact at the Empire Leicester Square & this kit from Hamleys. The 'dream job' was a nightmare so i left the following year, The shoes lasted a few more years, i'd guess the Wendy was 'in n out' overnight, & the memories of 2010 stayed with me til this day. Like whats left of the ol' M-247. Whats left of her is in my 'office' (middle room). think it's mainly the lower hull now. But reading this makes me want another one! Thank you for this build, It made a middle age man 17 again, & not in a Zac Effron kinda way! Now: TO EBAY!!!

phildagreek
Slow progress, I've been thinking the back end looks a little bare, so I've added some storage. M247 - 35 by phil da greek, on Flickr Other little bits and pieces being done, time for some decals but this is a look as to where it's headed. M247 - 38 by phil da greek, on Flickr M247 - 36 by phil da greek, on Flickr They aren't the best photos I'm afraid, the light has really washed all the colour out and given a shine to everything, but you get the idea.
