Hunter Rose
Okay time for an update! Milliputted the remaining areas i want covered (wais and upper body will be covered with a belt and hoodie so dont need to worry about them) Aaaand then it was time to grab some seriously course sand paper to g cracking on with the first round of smoothing. And i even managed to get a coat of primer on just to see where im at and hive an indication of how bad it is! Not bad, pretty much what i expected, so next up its more filling and sanding (oh joy!) Thanks for looking, more soon
S5 modeller
Brilliant hunter! Looks like you've nailed the filling pretty well. Mind you, you should be a dab hand at this kit now. Can't wait to see more. Matt
Gimme Shelter
Keep up the determination here - its looking good to me despite whatever truths the primer may have presented. Your previous mention of using Milliput prompted me to get some myself at a weekend model show to test and try on similar builds that incorporate limb joins

And yeah being the second its helped give me a heads-up on the tricky bits (i.e. all of it!! ) On 6/6/2017 at 0:53 PM, Gimme Shelter said: Keep up the determination here - its looking good to me despite whatever truths the primer may have presented. Hunter Rose
The sanding begins! Started off with some 80 grit to really sand out the high spots then used 400 to smooth and remove the sanding scratches from the rough stuff. Then i gave it a spray to check how its looking. Still a few bits to sort out on the arms and head, and i still need to sort the fingers (saving that pain till last!) The legs are already looking pretty good though. But still have a few bits to smooth out on the left leg. So guess whats next?? Milliput then sanding.............. yay. Plasto
What? More milliput? You ought to buy shares in the company, you might get a bulk discount. Looking good. Matt

rockpopandchips
Starting to come together now. Im using millput for the fist time and i do like it, it did a bit of time to get used to handling it, as you say being able to smooth over with a wet finger is great. Hunter Rose
Yeah took me a bit of time to get used to it, and this batch seems way stickier this time (maybe the hot weather??) But i feel like its sped up the filling process loads!
Hunter Rose
Milliput round 2! Right so in tbe cold lightof day and dry primer its actually not looking too bad, some of the rough spots just need more sanding so didn't have too many areas to reapply. So when thats dry I'll sand it down with rough stuff then a finer grit to buff it out and fingers crossed that will be fine and i can work on the details im adding and I'll sort out the fiddly filling on the fingers. Hunter Rose
Right so I've sanded the bejesus out of spidey today, and when i got to the finer grit rub down i really worked it as hard as i could to polish out the rough sand marks. And then i blasted him with primer to check how it really looks, and im pretty happy, though i noticed there are still a lot of rough sanding scratches around his crotch and *ahem* "lower back" that still need smoothing. So next i think its mostly just more sanding, and I'll fill the finger webbing (a pain i saved to last). Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Cheers Brian Well I've been busy as hell but its time to stop procrastinating and crack on. Just a little update, thought it was time to show something a bit more interesting than milliput and sanding, so I've sorted out the middle seam by doing his belt. Rolled a piece of greenstuff out and laid it on, then smoothed it over with a little vaseline on my tools. Then i used the back of a scalpel blade to segment it. And final thing was to carve the buckle detail into it. Next up I'll make a start on the hoodie. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Thanks! greenstuff can be a bugger to work with at times so i was relieved got it done okay! Just about to make a start on the hoodie so should be an update with pics later
Vanoyen
Coming along very nicely. Can't wait to see the hoodie.
Hunter Rose
Cheers Vanoyen! Well i did get a chance to start the hoodie, I'll apologise in advance for there not being many step by step pics, my hands get messy as hell when im milliputing and i dont want to screw up my phone! Started by mixing up some milliput and squidging on some thin bits around the shoulders as the beginnings of the sleeves, used my tools to ensure neat edges and wet fingers to smooth it out. So its a good start, and by being careful I've kept it a lot smoother than i was fearing. Next up I'll continue to build it up, just because of how soft milliput is I'm thinking it'll be easier to keep it flat and then build up some creases after the initial layer is dry. Hunter Rose
Right more hoodie work today! Staryed by building up an edge at what will be the bottom hem, then started laying on some flat bits of milliput to help blend it all over. Blended and smoothed with my wet tools and finger. Then thinned the bottom bit as the start of an elasticated hem which i then used a scalpel blade on to give the ridged look. So next up I'll build up the front and do the hood, which will be down as i dont think it will look right given his pose.
