Anti-Roll Scalpel!

I say chaps, what a Wizard wheeze! Check out Mr Holte's alarmingly lovely 1/72 Voodoo camera bird at Cybermodeler Online today -and look at the red widget on his scalpel handle in the second pic...jolly good idea, eh?!

 

Now where can I get my feelthy hands on some...? eBay and Amazon come up empty, despite using various search terms. Am I missing summat? (Usually, YES, and it's probably blindingly obvious...)

i'm betting that a stationery supplier may have something similar. looks like it could have been designed for pens and pencils. 

 

i prefer a Bard Parker handle like dentists use. it's a big fat ergonomic beast and due to its shape rolling is a non-issue.

A length of duct / gaffer tape wrapped around the handle and stuck to itself should do the job, as well.

Swann-Morton scalpel blade holders aren't circular and can't roll off the modelling table.

Thanks Gents! I have ONE 'flat' SM handle, but can't get comfy with it -I manage best with the round type. I'll keep looking. Cheers!

Try searching for 'pencil grip' or 'triangle pencil grip.' Should turn up. [I've used 'em on my X-Actos for years.]

It most certainly looks home made from some form of plastic, maybe from the Range, they have a good selection ( I did my best to not use the word 'range') of arty thingies so you may find a material there to make you own contraption to do the same job.

Rolling scalpels isn't my problem, dropping them is. Anyone got a cure for terminal stupidity?

Going back to an earlier post Swann Morton  produce a chunkier handle scalepel handle for both the no4 and no 3 blades.

 

We have them on our stand at every show..

 

5a handle replaces no3 metal handle

 

6a handle replaces no4 metal handle

Lay a cocktail stick or cotton bud alongside the handle (upper part where you don't really hold it) and then wrap tape around it. Done.
