Mosquito attack run vignette

25 posts in this topic

Over in the GB section, as part of the De Havilland Mega GB, I built Tamiya's 1/72 De Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI. I decided to make it as if it were in flight so I purchased a couple of motors so it could have working propellers. Because it would need a base to house the batteries and switches I decided to use a small Wilkos picture frame on which I decided to create a small scene. I decided to use Zvezda's Snap-fit German Howitzer kit as the focal point of the base and the result can be seen below.

Aircraft Kit: 1/72 Tamiya De Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI/NF Mk.II

Howitzer Kit and figures: 1/72 Zvezda Snap-fit German Howitzer

Paints: Humbrol, Revell, Citadel and Railmatch Acrylics - all applied by brush

Base: Wilko's picture frame

A lot of photos of the Mosquito can be found here

The WIP for the whole project can be found here

A rather shaky YouTube video of the scene can be found here

The whole scene:

I've said similar elsewhere, but this is stunningly, superb, especially at that scale.  As usual your photos do it justice. You know I love groundwork in particular and I'm thinking you've nailed this one on the head. And talking of heads, I've ducked a couple of times viewing this wonderfully evocative diorama!

Rearguards,

Badder.

I really like this! The cherry-on-the-cake for me is the bomb falling towards the PAK. You can see how fast the Mossie was...the gun-crew have not even had time to react yet!

Thanks for sharing with us.

Chris.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I have been quite pleased with how the props look although I have to take the photos in a certain way to make sure they show up in the images - in some of the photos I took it looked like there's nothing there! I think it depends on the direction of the light and what the background is behind them.

Kind regards,

Stix
