Hewy
This looks to be a really nice kit stuart, I'll look forward to watching this coming together Glynn
AngstROM
This looks like one of Trumpeter's better efforts; I have the kit myself and have been noodling around detailing the gear bays (anything rather than actually finishing something!) -I'll grab an observation berth here if I may!
Jabba
A good choice and it is a good kit to build.
Basilisk
Welcome to this GB comrade. Great to see a type being built which is not yet represented. Cheers, Peter

Hardtarget
Ah yes Plasimo or is that scale moddeling, yes am aware of them both and actually was partial inspiration for this build.
AngstROM
If you feel the need for reference walkarounds, have a look on Cybermodeler Online. Most are links to an admirable Russian site, and one (Su-24MR) runs to SIXTY-FOUR PAGES of up close & personal! So no excuses...

Hardtarget
This week has seen quite a bit of progress so here update as follows. I started off with the main wheel wells which are made from 4 for the front and 6 for the rear. no real fit problems but notorious with trumpeter kits is the spru gates on the return of the edeges so you need to b ecareful throughout this build to shave and sand them off. DSC_0015 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Next it was the turn for cockpit assembly. Againt no real issues except the positioning of the IP with the picture suggesting that the pins from the IP insert into the recessed of the main tub. they dont!, they are completely different sizesand you have to rest this IP onto o fthe control columns. There is also not much space between the control sticks and the IP. DSC_0017 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Main fuselage top and bottoms were up next with plenty of holes to be drilled and slots cut out. ( i never find an easy ways to cut slots) DSC_0016 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Nose halves hold the cockpit tub in place. I had a bit of a fit issue here but nothing thats not difficult to rectify with some filler. Tape was needed to hold it altogether. DSC_0018 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Main fuselage and nose section cemented together. The main join between the two can be tricky and may requrie filler depending on how well you fit the two. DSC_0019 by stuart wellard, on Flickr I found a poor fit of the exhaust shroud at the rear of the fuselage and needed a bit of fettling to fit. DSC_0021 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Wings were next consiting of three parts. ive gone for flaps extended but you can have them retracted. Once they were cemented Trupeter have a an intereesting way of fittin gthem to the fuselage with a clamping system. Inserts on the underside of the fuselage are used to clamp the wings. DSC_0022 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Now this little part on top of the fuselage apparently fits inthat recess however it does not unless you remove that little bit of plastic that holds the tub in place. So duly removed the window actuator now fits. DSC_0023 by stuart wellard, on Flickr
Hardtarget
The tub was then airbrushed using MRP Sukhoi cockpit blue-grey 195. Decals were added once dry which this laqur based paint does extreamly quickly. DSC_0025 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Lumps and bumps were next and there are a few of these as well. DSC_0026 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0027 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Returning to the cockpit, seats were airbrushed tamiya XF-85. Jabba
Nice start especially in the cockpit. When I made mine I looked at having the flaps extended, but when I found out that the slats are also extended at the same time I left them into the wings.

Yes it is a shame why they do one and not the other. Bit of a contrast to my F-111 build which has both.

Just had a look in my Fencer Folder -there seems to be a lot of parked (unoccupied) aircraft, including one at a MAKS show, with everything tucked away. I think that's how mine will end up!
