Orso
Back at what I hate in modelling. Painting. The stripe is more red in real life than it look in pictures. I need to add a semi gloss clear coat as I think it is to shiny. Maybe even flat? I have cut the masks for the registration but I am waiting for the paint to cure before continuing.
Orso
I went for the flat coat on it. At some point this plane got a new left wing so the red stripe is missing on it. The letters under the wing did have a different font .

Orso
I have mixed feeling for this. I managed to build the fittings that will steer the rudder lines. They look large on the picture but the holes are just 0,4 mm (.015) and the thickness of the plastic strips are 0,25 mm (or .010) so I didn't expect that I would succeed. But I realized that a grey 0,06 mm rudder line running parallell to the corrugation is invisible. But I can't get the lines looking right. They slope to much. (The camera manage to see the lines at least) Perhaps I should try the elastic "invisible thread" that some people mentions Edited September 8, 2017 by Orso
Orso
As i didn't like the slack in the lines I removed them and trying "invisible Thread" instead. Even harder to see what I'm doing with this line. Edited September 10, 2017 by Orso
Orso
With the rigging done I turned to the skis and started to build parts for them.

Orso
The skis are ready. They are of a more moden type than the Monogram skis. These had shock absorbers. Finished model: I hope to finish the plane today Edited July 30, 2023 by Orso
TonyTiger66
The skis look superb Orso, I really like the finish you have attained on them The components you created are tiny; very effective micro-modelling indeed. I didn't leave a 'like' by the rigging posts because I could see that you weren't happy with them. Nevertheless I liked the EZ line on the model. I would recommend Uschi Van Der Rosten line. It's quite like EZ, with the advantage that it doesn't degrade and break over time. What did you choose in the end? It's strange the different parts of the hobby we like. I like painting the best ! Nice work with the masks; models with this corrugated surface aren't easy for insignia and markings. TonyT
perdu
Orso, I didn't watch this from the beginning Ford? Trimotor and boring? Not in my interest field at all... 😀 I just looked in, in passing and found a small marvel From matching corrugated plasticard to the fuselage From throwing away some of the engines and making the single one fit nicely I love this model, it is beyond excellent and up in the fabulous range Thanks for sharing the dream Wonderful modelling bill
