Merlin
Hi, Alclad 2 do a steel, also a stainless steel, results (images on www) as well as the colour visible in bottle base, are not the UK steel I am familiar with, that of scalpel blades, bolts from B&Q, spanners, screwdriver shafts etc. Tried magnesium as it looked a bit less dark grey, two light passes as per instructions and forum posts saw no steel silver at all, looked almost unchanged from the black, just slightly sparkly bits, black gloss base eventually went dark grey, that was the lightest I could get it looking, after 10 passes, by then another pass made no difference, looks like humbrol gunmetal ! Just what paint is there that represents actual shiny bright steel ? The names on the Alclad 2 bottles are misnomers ! It must withstand handling. Beardie
Most of the things you describe are not strictly bare steel. Srewdrivers, spanners etc. are chrome vanadium or chrome plated, scalpel blades are surgical steel, bolts/screws are plated with a variety of materials, zinc, chrome etc. From Alclad you would probably want something more like High Speed Silver or Chrome to get that bright silver colour. Merlin
Thanks, For small items I am finding Mr Metal Color (buffed) more practical, their stainless does look like stainless. Merlin
