Chris Jephcott
Hi everybody, Just a quick one as I've tried searching the forums but didn't quite get the answer to what I'm looking for! I'm making the Tamiya 1/32 Phantom at the moment and the horror that is the intakes has come to my attention. I was wondering if anybody could advise if I can get a set of seemless intakes anywhere for this kit? I can't work with the ones in the kit already, and I'm sure a milliput layer would end up in much more swearing that I intend to do! Thank you very much, Chris
71chally
I'm not sure how readily available they are in the UK, but there are/were sets from GT Resin, Sierra Hotel, Cutting Edge, Seamless Suckers (SS-15), D-Mold, and Rhino Modelworks. Worth reading reviews for most accurate and easiest to use etc. Hopefully that will provide a starting point for finding some.
JohnT
Yes - what 72 chally says. I think these come up on e-bay quite regularly. Here for example http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-32-F-4J-S-SEAMLESS-INTAKE-SET-Splitter-Plates-Tires-for-Tamiya-/322497352111 Tends to be from US sellers though so postage bumps the cost up a fair bit. You might get lucky with patience and find a UK seller. I bit the bullet and got one set from the US but got lucky and acquired another set from a UK source second hand which was cheaper. bentwaters81tfw
If D-Mold are still going, Dimirti give very good service direct from Russia.

Lawnguylander
If you are reasonably seasoned modeler, you could attempt this method of correcting the kit's intakes- I did it, it wasn't that difficult. http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=21968 Here are mine, in a1/32 FG.1 conversion- http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=33470&p=315784 Edited May 4, 2017 by Lawnguylander
mcdonnell
Hello,Chris - A little food for thought, perhaps. How about Intake Covers? I made some from plasticard for my 1/48 build of this type. The topic is called 'All At Sea - Royal Navy Phantom'. Please take a look and see what you think. 😉👍 All the best,Paul.
