Wdedig
I have a question for all the Spitfire experts. Does this aircraft receive an Antenna Wire? I cant find a single photo showing a wire from antenna to Tail. More Photos later Comments welcome Bill

Cookenbacher
Beautiful Spitfire Bill. I don't think Mk IX's had antenna wires, the antenna was contained in the mast. I think some very early IX's had the IFF wires going from the fuselage to the tips of the horizontal stabilizers, but that wouldn't be the case for a post-war Israeli Spitfire. Of course, I'm willing to be proven wrong.
stevehnz
I think the answer is no, even during WW2, once Spitfires got VHF (?) radios, the wire from the mast to the tail disappeared. Nice Spitfire model too BTW. Steve. Edited April 28, 2017 by stevehnz
Beard
No,unless it had been retro-fitted with a High Frequency radio. Here's some background on Spitfire antenna: http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/spitfire-masts-and-aerials.html/2
