Airco D.H.2 Stripdown

Recommended Posts

Hello,

some years ago I started to do more static modeling, coming from remote control helicopters. After soldering some of the strip downs from Eduard of the last century I build now mostly 1/48 biplanes.

I like to show my Airco D.H.2 in 1/48 finished end of last year. It's the only stripdown in this scale from Eduard.

The PE was mostly soldered as far as possible to big assemblies. Struts are made from real wood, the four blade too. The engine was replaced with one from Small Stuff and can rotate with the prop. The rigging was done with help of Gaspatch turnbuckles, may be the model with the highest number of those used. Some plastic parts was replaced by brass, e.g. the tail boom and spar. The painting was done with Alclad, Gunze and oil.

Now have fun with the pictures:penguin: If you have further questions feel free to ask!

Bughunter, is that you?

Yes, that's me and my usual nick name.

Also in the german forum where I created a detailed build report, but in german language.

Here I created a different one long time ago, but mostly reading and learning until now.

Looks like Britmodeller's are in for a real treat then.

I haven't been here long myself but welcome to BM.
