diamant
Hi to all, I wonder if any of you could help us with photos and/or scheme color camouflage of the Consolidated PB2Y Coronado in British markings. Any reference or comments will be much appreciate. These are the only photos I found:on Internet. https://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.wp.scn.ru%2Fcamms%2Far%2F1280%2Fpics%2F9_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwp.scn.ru%2Fen%2Fww2%2Fh%2F1280%2F9%2F0&docid=Y3Jcoa72BW-VSM&tbnid=qC0kvxEP_zljpM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgrKAowCg..i&w=753&h=263&bih=593&biw=1008&q=Consolidated coronado aircraft WWII RAF&ved=0ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgrKAowCg&iact=mrc&uact=8#spf=1 https://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.iwm.org.uk%2Fiwm%2FmediaLib%2F22%2Fmedia-22695%2Flarge.jpg%3Faction%3De&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.keypublishing.com%2Farchive%2Findex.php%2Ft-122536.html&docid=fI_ihQLL50J6gM&tbnid=sE0LsDHIRujN3M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwhKKB8wHw..i&w=800&h=605&bih=593&biw=1008&q=Consolidated coronado aircraft WWII RAF&ved=0ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwhKKB8wHw&iact=mrc&uact=8#spf=1 https://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fc1.staticflickr.com%2F5%2F4043%2F5153469903_13c4591ba3_b.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F8270787%40N07%2F5153469903&docid=d4JIQUTG1HOudM&tbnid=OvdhlUrOJ0834M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwg_KBQwFA..i&w=1024&h=615&bih=593&biw=1008&q=Consolidated coronado aircraft WWII RAF&ved=0ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwg_KBQwFA&iact=mrc&uact=8#spf=1 https://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fc1.staticflickr.com%2F6%2F5445%2F8795147992_81b1e6b616_b.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fbud_scotland%2F8795147992&docid=3-Dn9X_WyC6O7M&tbnid=gby2-OfZ3EgN1M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgzKBIwEg..i&w=1024&h=476&bih=593&biw=1008&q=Consolidated coronado aircraft WWII RAF&ved=0ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgzKBIwEg&iact=mrc&uact=8#spf=1 https://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2Fc%2Fcf%2F231_Squadron_RAF_Coronado_in_Bermuda_WWII_IWM_CH_15944.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fcommons.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FFile%3A231_Squadron_RAF_Coronado_in_Bermuda_WWII_IWM_CH_15944.jpg&docid=wugA3WOp1Eh01M&tbnid=AYrBv4UQz1GLdM%3A&vet=10ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgqKAkwCQ..i&w=774&h=800&bih=593&biw=1008&q=Consolidated coronado aircraft WWII RAF&ved=0ahUKEwjNy53LlMXTAhXINSYKHaUqDxMQMwgqKAkwCQ&iact=mrc&uact=8#spf=1 My father is bilding the model right now. tonyot
The scheme was the Temperate Sea Scheme of Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey with Sky undersides. Some flew with turrets fitted but they were converted to transport configuration and used on the trans Atlantic ferry service, routing via Bermuda. 4 bladed propellers were oten fitted on the inboard engines and three bladers on the outboard engines. I think that you have found all of the available pics of RAF Coronado`s already. Cheers Tony

Seahawk
9 hours ago, Edge said: Wow I had no idea the RAF used these Edge A rather reluctant evaluation after which Coastal Command sloughed them off onto Transport Command and BOAC. The Air Enthusiast article referred to by Patrick has (p.19) 2 photos of JX470 at Beaumaris. On shore so the beaching gear is murkily visible.
occa
They were only 10 AC that flew for the RAF. Not all of them received the TSS as the photo above proves
stevehnz
Sorry Martin, but I'm actually seeing that as TSS, maybe somewhat faded or a slightly overexposed photo but I'm seeing DSG &EDSG though the contrast is low & its not exactly obvious. The underside could well be washed out sky, to my eye anyway. Steve.
occa
I am not sure Steve, the camo looks just like here: Here's one in fresh camo before the sea and the sun did their job: Cheers Martin
stevehnz
I agree it is not obvious but I reckon I can make out the two different TSS top side colours, the roundel is in a band of DSG but the open hatch just forward of that is in an area of EDSG, likewise the nose forward of the cockpit is mainly DSG but the tip of it is in EDSG. I had a quick play with saturation & contrast & to my eye this brought it out more clearly. I reckon we need a referee on this one. janneman36
I am with Steve because you can still see the demarcation lines of the camo. Take a good look at the nose and compare the float and then the aft fuselage, there is where i see clear demarcations between the colors. On the second picture that Occa posted i don't see any comparison except for the lower camo demarcation Edited April 28, 2017 by janneman36 info added
occa
Lets just agree to disagree guys I seem to recall I once saw a clearer color photo but I admit it could well have been of a Martin PBM and not of a Coronado ...
occa
OK you guys were right, I found a better reproduction of the photo where it looks like TSS indeed. Sorry for the inconveniences that my misinterpretation might have caused. Now I'll do this ---> til it helps
stevehnz
No need for that Martin, it would have spoiled the fun I had fiddling with the image of there hadn't been some discussion, that image you found looks quite a lot like what I came up with. Would have saved me from the embarrassment Cheers Martin

Agreed, Diamante & his Dad turn out great models, I've really enjoyed their stuff over the years, instructive too & I'm sure this will be the same. Martin, I use a freebee programme called Irfanview, its fine for a quick job like that. Steve.

diamant
HI Many thanks.. I realized the few photos of this type in RAF markings. Here are two photos showing the progress on the model. Cheers Santiago PD: I am in the middle of the process of defining the final number of Defiant for our next proyect. The series will probably include 21 models which 10 of them are already done. I will ask same question on this matter.
