Fishbone
Trumpeter 1/72nd scale Su-33 Flanker D. Su-33 Flanker D of 2nd Fighter Squadron (AE), 279th Shipborne Fighter Aviation Regiment (KIAP), RNS Admiral Kurznestov, 2016. Time for some etched parts. DM Metal pitot. Etched parts for intakes. DM Etched parts of Variable air intake, it alters the air pressure when flying supersonic and subsonic, so when the aircraft reach supersonic speed it will close the deflector doors slightly to reduce the incoming air speed which flows into the compressor. Cockpit section. That's how it's done. You can see that I flipped over the instrument panels, that's because those PE have to stick on a flat surface, and the another side of the panel is flat so i just flipped it over instead of sand off those details. Molding line removed & polished with Tamiya compounds. Since it will gain more weight after install the exhaust etched parts later, I glue some lead sinkers into nose section JUST to make sure it won't wheelie. Flyingdutchman
Looks like the fit of the kit is good. Your work looks tidy and the PE is a great ardon especially on the intakes. Hard to believe it's 1/72 Cheers Evert
SoftScience
Very nice! It looks much nicer than the quasi-flanker Hasegawa kit I have. Does all that metal come with the kit?

Fishbone
Hello, happy labor holiday! Here's some update: Time for the DreamModel after burner etched parts: The inner structure is quite tricky to be honest. Spent 2.5 hours for this. And also, adding details on landing gears. Primer surfacer applied to check for errors. Done sanding with very fine grit of sand paper (1200 - 1600) to ensure the surfacer is free of surfacer particles. Fishbone
And here's the painting sequence of the exhaust/engine. Any BLACK of your choice, please make sure it's glossy black. Second layer - I use Gunze 28 Steel. Third layer - Gunze 8 Silver. Spray gently, do not cover those panel lines, leave it with Steel color. Clear Blue - Spray onto the panel lines. Clear Orange - let it "dye" into the clear blue like this. Spray a very diluted Gunze 28 Steel, maybe with ratio of 9:1, spray slowly and gently...spray until you get the the effect. And then paint those sheets and hatches with bright silver. I use this - Sakura Pen-touch, you can use Gundam Marker, make sure it's oil based so that it won't be wash off when we weather/wash/filter the plane later.
Robertone139
Fantastic paint job. I never realized the naval Flanker was updated to a "glass cockpit".

Fishbone
Hi guys, some updates again. Pre-shading & overlay color - by XF-63 German Grey, Gunze 43 Wooden Brown, Gunze 315 FS16440 and MODO White. Navy planes will have very wide ranges of weathering caused by sea breeze erosion and sun exposure, e.g. F-14. Su-33 is basically a Navy version of Su-27, so I think it's legit for Su-33 to wear those weathering.
