SoftScience
Hello all, This isn't so much a WIP, as it is a question to determine if I need to repaint. I've been trying to get the right blue/green shade going, and using proposed mixes from manufacturers and some online sources, I've ended up with everything from a faded olive drab to a bright pale green. Nothing matched the photos I was seeing, so I mixed up this shade from Tamiya sea gray/sky/green/intermediate blue. The gray is Tamiya Royal Gray. I gave everything a light blue filter. But now it looks too blue to my eye. I'm hoping some experts here can weigh in. incidentally, this is the 1:72 Trumpeter kit. Which is just sublime! qn30jEkPz7
Sorry - not a clue other than to say take any advice with a pinch of salt as the colour temperature of every viewer's display will be a bit different so some will see bluer/redder than you do
stevehnz
I'm not seeing "too blue" on my monitor, that looks pretty close to how I imagine that scheme should look. Steve.
SoftScience
Thanks, Steve. Looking at it some more, I think its doing what the real thing does. In some light it looks more green, in others more blue. I'm actually pretty happy with it now.

qn30jEkPz7
With the decals on it does look 'right' maybe having the colour contrast of the insignia helps
SoftScience
Thanks, guys. Here it is with a wash. Not something I typically do in 1/72, but these planes got pretty grungy, and I wanted to simulate that. Flagon
Looks very good, especially with the wash and the gloss knocked back a bit. I think you hit the colors pretty well.
SoftScience
And from the bottom. Nearly done now. Just exhausts and a few aerials and pitot. No R-60 missiles as, like an IDIOT. I began applying a dark wash to them (dark wash on white ) and now they look like they got chewed up by mice. When I get Trumpy's MiG-29 UB I'll rob a set from it and put them on this.
