Bigdave22014
Okay guys, here's a problem that I thought I'd share with you for your opinions: This is from the new Airfix HC4 kit. The surface was Aqua Glossed, left to dry for a day, then the decal was soaked in water until it came loose on its own (not forced), and was applied over a bed of Microscale Decal Set. Despite this, it still has a very visible silvering to it. So, ideas? comments? Cheers, Dave
stevehnz
Dave, have a look at this thread, it contains info on what I & quite a few others do with great success, Steve. Edited April 20, 2017 by stevehnz

Jens
If you let the decal come loose by itself you most probably have washed off the glue from the back of the decal. I have had success removing silvering with Tamiya Extra Thin glue brushed onto the silvered parts. Make sure it's only a small amount of glue, and only one swipe (until dry). Head in the clouds.
I have used tamiya X20A on old, thick and stubborn decals with some success but trial it first with a decal not to be used on a test model. You can brush it on after or soak it but care needs to be taken if soaking it....do not go and make a cuppa! Gary
