Hobby Boss... ehh, not so much!

exdraken
resurrection from the very bottom of the GB... shame on me! but.... the youngsters only leave little time for active modelling at the moment! I have not given in yet, so here some progress: I will try to make the wing swiveling mechanism work AND look decent on a model... I have succeded on a Tornado and a MiG-23, so why not here as well ? This time pylons come into play though.... the cockpit section is ready to be clued on, should I add the canopy first?? and finally, i am thinking of gluing the upper main fuselage section to the cockpit section first, in order to have a better joint at the most visible part.... wonder if this will work finally..... sorry for the dark pictures, those are caused by late night modelling sessions Edited August 5, 2017 by exdraken
Hewy
If you've glued it in that last shot, that's a Very good job on the marriage of the cockpit cell and the fuselage werner ,that will pay off during painting, Glynn Edited June 21, 2017 by Hewy
trickyrich
arrr good to see this one rising to the top again. That cockpit does look really nice and fitting the canopy may help protect it and keep the dust bunnies out. At least your canopy is the correct shape! Nice work with that join, that one does seem to be an issue with that model (The one of the HB monster isn't much better), looks like you got it spot on! There's still time to finish her and if you're going for a grey beastie then the painting should be a breeze. So will a Su-24 be joining the collection after this? It looks to be a natural progression and I know a few have mentioned it in hushed tones!

Hewy
Inspired idea werner on the wing glove, I like it, bad luck on the schedule, these are big and complex models in 1/48 and we could have easily spent another month on them I think, good work so far, no need to rush now Glynn

Easily! But on the other hand...when one starts late AND interups for a month, only small models are achievable... But 111s and only 3 months is not fair compared to, lets say - Hunters 4 months would be mire relistic for part time modellers Edited June 26, 2017 by exdraken
trickyrich
I like your idea with the glove Werner, I had though of trying something similar but it would just eat up extra time finding something suitable. Yes I'm finding the 3 month build time way too short, though I was away for 8 weeks of it which didn't help at all. plus working in 1/48th and having a dog of a model (in my case) doesn't help. But please keep at it, would love to see her finished.

exdraken
so.... no idea if anyone can see the the old photobucket photos now..... I can for strange reasons.... whatever, I moved over to flickr, so slowly will be updating threads as far as reasonable...... some update: worked on the exhausts, (a bit crude, but hopefully will look ok when installed ) sanded a lot on order to minimize seams, and pre-shaded the model. i will probably move parts of this thread to the WIP section soon... but for the time I am testing flickr
