c.smith10
I've heard a rumour that a deployment of F-35's are heading over to Lakenheath this afternoon around 15:30. Apparently there's two Mildenhall 135's at Bangor Maine ready to escort them over. edit: http://www.defensenews.com/articles/us-air-force-f-35s-making-first-operational-deployment-to-europe-this-weekend Edited April 15, 2017 by c.smith10

Stephen
The F-35A was due to be deployed on a TSP (Theatre Security package) to either Europe or the Far East this year.
Truro Model Builder
Lakenheath is NOTAM'd closed until Tuesday, however, and there are plenty of rumours regarding the destination at the moment.
Stephen
F-35's to Europe http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-pentagon-lockheed-idUKKBN17G1CX Given that one of the resident F-15E squadrons has just deployed then there certainly would be enough space for them there. Duncan B As luck would have it, and all being well, SWMBO and I will be in Scotland for a few days starting Friday. Is it likely the F35's might be around the Loch Tummel area? "why do you want to take photos? You've got some of planes already". You know how it goes ...
lasermonkey
Weird, I visited the nearby nature reserve at around 3.30 on Saturday (and passed hoards of spotters in and around the viewing area, on the way) but saw and heard nothing of the F-35s. Maybe they're stealthier than I realised!
Jonny
Well, the dear old BBC has just announced that US 'Stealth Jets' have touched down in the UK. On my iPad the message is timed 00:59 today. We saw it first in Britmodeller - thanks, C.smith!,,
bzn20
With a bit of luck we'll have them over the house dog fighting soon. Had a couple of Eagles yesterday. Its been fairly quiet 'round here in Lowestoft after they said they were leaving last year/year before/ year before that ! SimonR
The Eagles are a regular sight over Norwich so hopefully get a glimpse of an F35 at some point :-)
AntPhillips
They have done the Mach Loop, video on YouTube, would have love to have been there. It must be the backdrop of the Welsh Mountains, but they look pretty impressive and actually their shape and look is growing on me.
