Vadim
It's nice to see someone else was doing rigging last week It's interesting is there anyone who tried all the methods for rigging?

CedB
Thanks Simon - tired and drained, that's how I feel! Just sat down at the bench again but I'm not up to any more fiddly stuff tonight! Thanks Vadim - how many methods of rigging are there? Thanks Giorgio, very kind. Thanks Cookie - apologies for bringing out the emoji in you  Thanks Benedikt - great picture! Thanks Simon - nice link!  No more tonight, I'm too drained and I don't want this to happen:

keefr22
I thought it was Cinderella Rockefella.... but I'm tone deaf.  Good work on the pesky rigging so far Ced, very neat!  Keith
CedB
Thanks guys. You teasers... Simon posted a link - it's Mission Impossible, of course. rob85
Nice work Ced, the rigging looks more that a little tricky! Good luck with it, I will watch and take notes for the flying boat build. Â Rob
Biggles87
I thought it was  ' Sunday night at the London Palladium '. Lots of small French towns have their own bands/orchestras which perform at local fetes etc. They all play the ' Mission Impossible ' theme, some are very good, others, well er shall we say need more practice. I hope the rigging's going well.  John
CedB
Thanks Rob - when I've made sure I'm doing it right(ish) I'll try to post some step by step shots, although it's basically 'get the right tool, dip it in the CA and blob it on' then hold the line at the right angle until the CA dries - I count to ten. I still haven't really sorted the activator application.  Thanks John - there's nothing like a good brass band and nothing like a bad one. I do admire the players though - how they get any notes out of a bent tube is a mystery to me.   11 hours ago, TheBaron said: My Morse is a bit rusty.  ... led me to post the ' -. .. - . / -. .. - . ' bit last night but no bites from this lure eh? Courtesy of the Morse Code translator I can now post all sorts...  -... ..- - / .. / .-- --- -. .----. -   I realised this morning that I've been on this one for over a month! Not my usual build rate, even with some hanging around for figures. Must get on with it...  In need of a spare hand I tried the new F clamp and it seems to be working:  Untitled by Ced Bufton, on Flickr  Just need to ignore the passengers screaming (Brian don't try this at home!). Making doubly sure I had the right line of the two I stretched (gently) and glued it:    One down, twenty-one to go. Hard to see the double set of double lines but here's the first set finished:   NOW I can see that blob of CA. Needs attention.  That took me far too long as I'm a bit shaky. Not ill, just old. No, I didn't have any alcohol last night - perhaps that's the problem? I'll calm myself and try again later.
CedB
I've been nervous about this rigging as it's only the second one I've done and G-AKIF is a special build for me. My first time (which, of course, you never forget) was the Moth back in Sept '15. I used EZ Line for that and had problems with the line soaking up the CA and going stiff in the wrong direction:   I remember this being more of a problem than it seems to be on the finished model but you can just see one example in front of the rear strut here:   Sorry about the shot but it's on the ceiling. Not bad overall now I come to look at it:   The Infini lycra doesn't soak up the CA so that's a big bonus.
keefr22
That rigging uis looking ace Ced, & so good to see your double flying wires - I notice a lot of battle hardened specialist biplane builders don't even bother with them in 1/32nd! Â And the info on the infini thread is good, as I had the same problem with CA & EZ line on my last rigging attempt (a 1/700 RN armed trawler!) which remains unfinished. Something else to save the pocket money up for then! Â Keith
CedB
Thanks Keith - the Infini is available in loads of sizes. Get some, I don't think you'll regret it   Done:  Untitled by Ced Bufton, on Flickr  Glad that's over. What? giemme
Amazing! Â I must say the rigging adds a lot to the whole appearance of this aircraft, well done CED! Â Â Ciao
Spookytooth
Oh the fun of rigging. Looks about right from here Ced, with the other side to do, should not be to bad. Â Simon.
Leonl
Wow.... My mind is boggled just reading your plan brought me out in a cold sweat....(My colleagues are looking at me nervously....).  As Giorgio says the rigging really makes a difference. Whilst you may, and probably will, go mad in the process at least it'll be worthwhile...  Oh, I used the CA applicator kit last night - how did I live without it!! Fantastic recommendation..Cheers!
CedB
Thanks Giorgio - I hope so! Trouble is, if the double rigging is wrong it really stands out... I have made a rod for my own back again! Thanks Simon - other side done, thank goodness! Thanks Leon - I've just about maintained my sanity I think. What's that nurse? Yes, I'll take them in a minute... Glad you like the applicator, great tool.   I said I'd do a sort of step by step for @rob85 so here it is (until I started to panic a bit).  Prepare your tools (fnaar!).  Untitled by Ced Bufton, on Flickr  The gel CA isn't essential but it does stay where you put it. Activator? Well, helps sometimes. I also cut some bits of tape to hold down the lines - best do this now before you realise you need it:   OK, trapped lines carefully positioned:   wings taped and the bottom of the structs glued in:   A small drop of CA is picked up on the applicator and applied to the anchor position:    Then you need to concentrate and can't take photos. Hold the line in tweezers near the end, but not so near that the CA creeps up the line and sticks it to the tweezers. Make sure it's at the right angle and poke it into the CA blob. Hold your breath and count to ten. Gently tug the line and make sure it's fixed - I know this sounds daft but you'll curse more if it pulls loose later.  Repeat until done:   I need a rest now. Later I'll check the lines and then I can glue the top wing on. Hooray!
