Reini78
#7/2017 When the new early 109s from AMG were released, my dad decided to give it a try. Got the pre-release D-1 boxing and found out you can´t do a Dora without surgery. The fuselage is for a A/B model, the wings too which miss the gun access panels/covers. The tailwheel is only for a late Dora. At first my dad didn´t know what to do with that kit, cost ~35 Euro so my he didn´t want to throw it away. Then he found the solution in building a Berta. Prop and tail wheel are from a CA kit, the long slats were possible by glueing the short slats together with the leading edge gun covers. The kit isn´t that bad but the canopy doesn´t fit in length, therefore my dad displayed it open and the multipart cowling demands some filling and sanding work. The camo paint is a selfmix. The model shows the former Legion Condor 6-15 piloted by Otto Polenz who was forced to land on a Republican airfield. He became a POW, the aircraft found its way over France to Russia were it was examined and evaluated.

TonyTiger66
Very nice Some in recent years have taken to calling this a Bf-109'A'. Long slats, oil cooler positioned slightly differently and so on. I think 'early B or B1' still is more believable. The Soviets really stripped this one down. Your model looks really spot on for the photographs of the real thing. Troy Smith
here's a 'walkround' by the Soviets of this captured plane http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/walkaround/b6-15/6-15.htm this thread was posted up in a thread on Spanish 109E's http://www.network54.com/Forum/149674/thread/1489460211/1/A+little+help+from+the+Bf109+guys Which mentions that the very early 109's were in 'silberweiss' Not sure if it applies to this, but hope of interest Great model of a fascinating scheme! cheers T

Yes, there is always a discussion about the looks of these early 109s in Spain, from metal to various grey tones, my dad decided for a light grey. Also a discussion concerning this a/c about the rudder colour, red or Republican tricolore. On the existing pics it looks more like single red.

ytareh
Lovely build as always ! I'm doing the Heller 1/72 one .Im not quoting this as gospel but from online research I believe the soviets may have stripped this down to the bare metal .Also the French pilot who flew it to Russia was a famous test pilot .He tested the Mystere post war
