Herb
This is the 1/72 Merlin Hawker Woodcock, suitably converted to the Danish "Danecock" version. Different engine (from a Matchbox Siskin), rescribed nose panels, lower wing shortened. The flying surfaces were pretty crude so I sanded them smooth and added a better ribbing structure. Homemade decals with the exception of the tail flags and "lift here" stencils. lasermonkey
Wow! There's no way you'd guess it started life as a Merlin kit! Exceptional work.
Buzby061
Lovely work, the prop is particularly well done. I've heard of the Danecock but not Merlin kits. Pete
Gorby
Excellent model Herb! Particularly as it's 1/72 - I thought it was 1/48. Is the prop painted or wooden?

stevehed
Splendid job. Very impressed as the standard of Merlin kits is so unpredictable. Regards, Steve
Patrik
Excellent work, Herb. I do not know the Merlin Woodcock kit, but if it is the same quality as the other "Merlins" I have seen so far, the result is clearly something to admire. TonyTiger66
Just gorgeous! In my experience it seems Merlin kits were so named because one needs to be a Magician to get anything out of them ! Magic suitably worked here! Youve done a wonderful job. Something about it gives a very good sense of presence; it doesn't look 1/72, more like 1/48 or 1/32. The aluminium dope/metal finish is just lovely. TonyT
Ed Russell
That's very nice. I like the scheme too. Are you going to do a Danerod next? http://www.cmrmodels.co.uk/cmr72-150/hawker-nimrod-mkii.html I'm doing a Merlin kit WIP at the moment and it wasn't as difficult as a quick inspection of the parts promised me.
