Revell '59 Cadillac Eldorado Hardtop 1/25

Recommended Posts

I love American cars from the 50's and 60's and the Cadillac Eldorado must be the pinnacle of ostentatiousness. This kit wasn't quite as well engineered as some of the others I've built from Revell, the main issue being lack of clearance for the engine ancillaries between the wheel arches.

Thanks Vince1159 :D

So well equipped too.........self-levelling air suspension, power steering, power brakes, aircon, central locking, electric windows, cruise control, self-seeking transistor radio, power 'memory' seats to name a few.  Amazing!

  • 3 weeks later...

I used to own one of these!!  I painted "Williams" on the driver door because my room mate used to drive us around like a chauffeur in the thing.  Nice Job!

I wanted one of these for my first car. We had a 60 Buick LeSabre that had been abandoned at our shop.  Very  similar to this one-

Same car as the Caddy just not as well equipped.  But it did come with  memory power seats, a "mirrormatic" speedometer, and an insanely powerful 455 "Wildcat" engine. The Oldsmobile version was the inspiration for a Kathy Mattea song. It would pass anything but a gas station. :P

But my pops decided that a powerful muscle car and a really dumb hormone powered teen did not need to mix. So I ended up with a 67 Mustang instead. I still desperately want one of those B-body GM cars.

Great model, BTW.

Wonderful stuff :) My first car was a '64 Triumph Herald 12/50 (1200cc/50 BHP) like this one:

Hardly compares does it?

One feature was the very tight turning circle, 25 feet, good for U-turns and parking in tight spaces.

Performance was 'sedate' and rarely saw a gas station :)

I love that!  Especially the two tone paint.

It's amazing the tech those cars had,as for the Herald it's one of those cars you want to go up to and give it a hug...
