longshanks
A small BIG step forward in the build Shrouds fitted They need a tweak and touch up when the glue has hardened off but I'm satisfied. This means we are on the down hill run into the finishing line. Still lots to do but relatively easy.... Time to start thinking of the next project Thanks for stopping by Kev
Gremlin56
Amazing build Kev, some of the details still look strange to me but prove there was "method to the original builders madness". You did an excellent job.

longshanks
A day of ladders First off from main deck to poop The side rails were looking rather thick 0.5mm! Sanding off the front edge gave a better impression. See below bottom rail before, top after..... result When beached and with the tide out a ladder was needed to reach the beach / pub so For any repetitive cutting I find a ' Chopper ' essential. You do need a cutting board as shown, out of the box it's crap. Using a stop I find I can cut repeat lengths to an accuracy 0.1mm. A catch up with most ' bits ' in place Thanks for stopping by Kev
beefy66
Kev your Chopper looks like it could be dangerous (bet you wish all the lady's would say that) i was thinking in a health and safety way of course no blade guard beefy 1
Bandsaw Steve
Sensational bit of micro-modelling. You need to keep that pen in the photos to show just how tiny this is! Great work!👍

Beardie
It's looking superb "Smertest shup in the trade!" Are you going to do a big bucket Kev? They nearly always carried a big cylindrical bucket for offloading coal and such loose cargo. It must have been one heck of a job emptying the hold with shovels. If the crew were lucky some puffers did have a grab for use with the derrick. Image 4 in this link gives you an idea of just how big these buckets were http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/glasgowandwestscotland/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_8336000/8336763.stm

RichO
I think we should have a public naming of the ship. As an American, the name "Boaty McBoatface was a great idea. I bet we can come up with a name at least that good. 1

I'm sure longshanks will be up for it and I have no doubt whatsoever that the denizens of this forum will have some suitably "creative" ideas. I originally mentioned the name thing as being in white on a black background, the names of these vessels tended to stick out like the sadly not so proverbial Martian's sore tentacle. RichO
OK, I'll start cautiously and silly at first...something like "Puffer the Magic dragon"..or "Pufferfish Bloat". I'm sure if we get the ball rolling, we can get really silly. A more dignified name perhaps..."Martiantious Tentaclies"....... Anybody?
Gremlin56
"Barnacle" would be a fitting name in view of the size of the build
clipper
Sat 16th Sep Puffer VIC32 at North Pier Oban last night, Fri 15th. She's still there as I write - if you are patient you'll get a view - but may change at any time, she's off home down to Crinan for the Winter. Keep an eye on her on one of Oban webcam's - wait until it swings around to the left off the new pontoons view - the puffer is at the North end of the Pier. https://www.oban.org.uk/northpierpontoonswebcam/ ps screengrab added 11:28 - and she's also on AIS now too :-) Edited September 16, 2017 by clipper additional image
