robw_uk
While the Quad is in the paint shop i have moved on to my next build. Going with the Roden 1/35 scal M37 3/4 tonne truck (Vietnam era). Going to modify this one to move it from a bog-standard truck to an armoured one (not fully armoured) - adding 1 50cal MG on the front of the truck bed (possibly from the Eduard M4 Sherman kit, or may get the Academy 50cal/30cal set). This will be more WHIF so markings will probably stay the same as the kit one... anyway, box & sprue shots and some progress: 17554589_10154677585522979_6739972332872990214_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17634686_10154677585507979_3781796024347686817_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17636756_10154677737262979_8198002138214776341_o by Robert Worth, on Flickr
robw_uk
further progress... my first Roden kit - some of the fit is not 100% positive but the detail is nice... engine just placed on at the moment as there are more parts to go in... 17626654_10154680161912979_2794784781640069348_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17629769_10154680161922979_6354546804644401387_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17634841_10154680161952979_337872196953691697_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr and finally - this is the vehicle that is my inspiration (photo for discussion only) 17553720_10154680286127979_8695699735700246746_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr

robw_uk
bit more progress... just the chassis so far. I believe the whole lot (including the engine) is OD. Think this time round I am going to build the chassis, cab & body and paint them as 3 sub-assemblies before combining 17523684_10154691781277979_7873145567152191504_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17796070_10154691781272979_896589247207152631_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr

robw_uk
thanks Badder - you can smother things in chocolate if you want!!! Progress... cab and body only placed on to give overall feel. Next steps on the cab look fiddly so going to try to scratch the gun mount and complete the body first 17759956_10154701925612979_4660258694695931590_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 17861625_10154701925607979_5881128294130811411_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr

Also 2 types of .50 cal. Not sure which is better (think probably the short barrelled....).... Hello, nice progress ! Regarding the .50 cal, the right version is the long barrel one, also called M2 HB for Heavy Barrel ... the other one is mainly seen on planes and boats sometime. Also if Vietnam 50cal used WWII ammo boxes Not really sure on the mount bracing. I did a quick Google image search but can't see a clear image of one. Quite a few pictures of them up armoured to look more like a gun trucks. Definitely going to have to look into one of these kits for the guntruck version. I really wish someone would do a M-54 in plastic as it's never been done before. I have at least 2-3 guntrucks I want to build on the chassis. For the ammo boxes just Google "50 cal Vietnam." Plenty of pictures there.
robw_uk
some progress... the easy build is done, need to paint the cab interior and add the dashboard decals before progressing further (only meant to paint the interior cab but got carried away - do think it needs to be a lot lighter tho for the exterior) 19553952_10154937495312979_7948313173830914511_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 19554413_10154937494197979_1759309848241964550_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 19247637_10154941156472979_2221985649782558894_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr 19511435_10154941156387979_707712783054108447_n by Robert Worth, on Flickr
