phat trev
Does anyone know if the USAF used the UC-64A Norseman postwar? ie. Korea etc. Looking to find some source if it was used by the military post 1945/7 so as to build one in later style star and bar markings. Can but try! Junchan
There is a photo of the Norseman s/n 45-41749 with skis in postwar markings on page 125 of "Aircraft of the United States' Military Air Transport Service. 1948 to 1966" by Nicholas M. Williams. The photo was taken in late 1940s at Chandler Lake, Alaska and it looks like overall sliver doped, but with no arctic markings. According to this book, seven UC-64As were transferred from ATC to MATS when it was formed in June 1948. Space Ranger
According to Wikipedia it was, but no details. Wiki also says: "United States Navy purchased three Norsemans in 1945 (under designation JA-1) to support Antarctic expeditions like Operation Highjump."
