Good result all around thanks Enzo. There're at least 6 of the qualifying GBs I would like to do, I very much doubt I'll get anything close to that done but I'm delighted to see the Brits Abroad one get thru, thanks Giorgio for proposing & marshalling it through to the finish line, well done.

Steve.

I'm currently taking part in my first GB (F-104 STGB) which has served very nicely to chivvy me along with my build (normally I'm extremely slow) its also the first time I've voted in and taken note of the GB poll and all the 'stuff' goes on around it.

I'm signed up for three of the GBs and looking forward to getting stuck in.

Obviously a lot of organizational work involved in the process so thanks to Enzo.

Not much for those interested in the ETO. Little disappointed with the subjects, but oh well.

Not much but there's something. Carriers didn't play a big part in this theatre but there was some activity around Norway. Hawker Typhoon and Tempests, plus the older Hurricanes are probably the most immediate idea for ETO based subjects. Coastal Command and their German equivalent did their part of course and I can think of a few subjects in the Brits Abroad GB, USAAF and Free French for example. The Airfix GB of course will of course offer many subjects but I can understand modellers who would prefer to build a modern kit for a theatre-themed GB ( I include myself here).

Thinking about it. while RAF and USAAF subjects could be made, there's little for Luftwaffe enthusiasts this coming year. Haven't checkled the STGB calendar though, there may be something there

Oh I don't know. The MTO if it has gone through, Airfix Golden Years, Maritime Patrol all offer obvious Luftwaffe opportunities and I'm sure there's scope for inclusion in the 10th Anniversary GB as well. Plenty Luftwaffe operated captured Brits Abroad and some of those were Hawkers. Plus the post war Luftwaffe operated during the 60s.

Enzo hasn't said the MTO GB has a place, just that there will be 10 GBs and there will be a big announcement this evening...

That is how I see it. The ranking looks as following:

Carriers Ahoy!     82

Hawker (Siddeley)     81
Airfix: the Golden Years     75
60s NATO vs Warsaw Pact in Europe     73

Grumman     69
The Pacific at War     68
Britmodeller 10th Anniversary     68

Brits Abroad     64

Maritime Patrol including Coastal Command     63

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mediterranean Theatre of Operations II     62
Eleventh Hour     49
80s Front line Asia     42
Big screen, Little Screen     41
Nightfighter II     41
The Duel     38
What If IV     38

And the MTO is clearly not in the top 9!

But my gut tells me that the 10th GB will be the "Eleventh Hours" - at least that what I hope.

Cheers, Peter

Ooh. Lots of opportunities for me to sign up to, start and fail to finish my GB for next year. Also slightly saddened that the RAF 100 didn't make it through, particularly as it is the 100th of the oldest independent Air Force and my first ever GB on BM was the RAF 90th.

I hope I might get to complete a GB on time in 2018 🙄

Was it early??? Depends on what time zone you were in?

Enzo could have been on a secret mission for her Majesties secret services, 008?:ninja: you know the secret work these former Gunnies have to get up to so he had to cut short the voting because the empire depended on it.......or to make it to the pub on time!

Thanks to Enzo for managing this vote.

I've got something in my stash for at least the top 10 themes- but don't take that as contractual.

A serious question for Enzo though:- for which the answer could well be the forum Britmodeller operates on.

WHY allow members to change their votes?

I can't change my vote in a General Election, influenced by the exit polls.

So I cast my vote in the first week of the poll - and then left well alone.

Maybe the answer is:-

Cause it's not a general election...and because changing votes is FUN!
