You wouldn't want to be facing those beauties.

The level of detail is awesome

Kev

Thanks Kev totally agree with you regarding the guns, and then when they added the rockets as well that was one powerful machine

Oh, you've added the gun heating tube as well!

Nice touch!

Made the gun heating tubes by rolling a small dia wire around a piece of tube then slide over a piece of shrink tube 1/16 dia and the heat shrunk and at the same time pulled it, first few attempts did not come out to go, then I got the hang of it

I am following this build with interest!
Where did you get the small diameter flex hose?

Jens

Hi Jens, got the flex hose from Detail Master (for model cars) www.detailmaster.com and used brass tube to do all the hose holder brackets, I used 1.5mm dia and stuck some wire in the middle so that I could keep the shape.

Next up was to take the gun fairings and remove very carefully the insides bore so that they would fit over the brass guns, I wanted to be able to remove the front part so that the guns could be shown without the fairings, so I machine the part where they would have come apart. The taper was 1.5 deg

Beautiful detailing again Richard, i can really appreciate the work you did on the cannon shrouds (built this one myself when it was first released), even in 1/24th they are not really big.

Have a good Easter and don't go crazy on the eggs ;)

The guns are getting nicer by the minute!

Off course, having a lathe at your disposal and the skills to use it helps...

Drive safely now!

Loved how the guns came out, and yes I sure do like the Sherline lathe, taught how to use one back in Poole Dorset many years ago

Thanks Richard. I never thought of using model cars details for this build but it makes good sense!

Jens

Hi Jens have bought a lot from the car details sites, and because I like to build in 1:24 scale you can find almost all the items you require

Thanks very much Julian, I think that the small details bring out the model, would love to see a pic of your Typhoon

I did a blog at Jimbo's site when the Typhoon was first released:

Picture heavy and rather long but this is what happened Richard ;)

Sorry for taking so long to reply to you Gremlin, life got in the way, loved looking at you Typhoon, you did a brilliant job on her :clap2:

Best regards

Been awhile since I last posted had family over from England for two weeks showed the all the nice parts around here, one is where you take a drive between Banff and Lake Louise on the Bow Valley Parkway and most times you will see wild life of some sort, well in all the years living here I have not seen a Grizzly in the wild only in the Zoo, but this time we saw two in the space of 10 mins, and one of them was big.

Well back to regular schedule programing

Have been doing a bit here and there on the Typhoon changed the ammo boxes, first ones I glued with CA and they keep falling apart so I had another set and this time I soldered, these came out way better. Then glued the wings together.

Then painted the shells

Then started to put some detail into the engine area because I will be showing it with the engine being hoisted from the frame.

Then I drilled out the pipes on the radiator

Until next time,

I'm not convinced that you don't have pics of the real thing....

If it is your modelling it's stunning

Kev

PS Good to see this under way again

Wait a minute - are these pictures a walkaround from a real Typhoon or a model?

Because - man - that is one real looking model.

I agree, the detail and weathering around the radiator alone is amazing.

This kit is really something...and you're getting the best from it!!!

The ammo bay is great!and the lathe has done its part to contribute giving life to the cannons!

Looking forward foe seeing your next update!

Thanks very much Kev, glad to get back on the bench again, summers here are always busy, I think by now you know I love to do little bit of detail here and there  still more to add in the engine bay.

As you say this kit is brilliant :like:, I know you have to do a lot of clean up but that does not take to long, then by adding small detail it does make it look a bit more real, here are a couple more pic's of the ammo boxes, thanks for looking in

I still love those gun heating hoses...

But that radiator assembly is a work of art!

Thanks alot Christer, added brass tube with a ring soldered on so it would look like a clamp ring for the coolant pipes coming out of the radiator, then added the valves for the petrol tanks, also the bleed lines etc etc
