Sweet!  Wonder if it's got any squadron markings on it or indeed, what the serial is?

 

That nav bag on the wing next to the bone dome has cast a shadow which makes the wing trainer band look like a double stripe.

 

Reading about the Sabre in the RAF in Duncan Curtis' book, I get the impression the Sabre guys preferred the Vampire to the Meteor T.7 for their NFC checks because it didn't have any nasty asymmetric yaw characteristics unlike the Meatbox, a thing that many were unused to flying the Sabre.  There were a few nasty night flying accidents with Meteors that wouldn't have been so nasty in Vampires (not least due to the fact the Vampire had ejection seats).
