Good afternoon you lot.

I don't know what it is but there is a point in every build these days where I slow down, mulling what to do next and almost not wanting to see everything finished. I think I passed the threshold today by getting the last few bits ready for assembly. I'm currently making s veggie lasagne and drinking wine so it looks as though she will go together tomorrow. Here's what happened today.

the Wonderful brass guns came out of the package.

these ones had to be assembled.

5830292E-B0D9-4F01-B9B0-35B0831A5935_zpststac2si

the little one almost got fed to the CM, luckily it boinged right pack onto my cutting mat.

6B32DFFB-3026-4A9E-A983-619FED096A20_zpsih1fzzc2

together at last!

the prop hubs got a base coat of yellow. I'll pre shade before the red goes on.

47050990-7027-48B3-89EB-0E0F80FE5DD1_zpslw0uc1sa

Here are all the last little bits primed and ready for colour. (The tyres are done)

Waiting for that to dry I masked the canopies.

Then base coated in green. Ahhhh lovely green, for the inside colour.

F25939F2-28C2-4CB6-8148-0AAFE90C1D0B_zpsw3ihlyxm

then most of the little bits got there final coat. Prop hubs still to go.

right as I said, dinner is taking priority right now. More tomorrow, I'll try the secret lemonade drinker. :yahoo:

thanks for dropping by. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

see y'all tomoz.

Nice guns; detail on those bad-boys is pretty impressive. Lots of fiddly bits but you'll have loads of fun assembling shortly 👷🏻

Yes they are rather special, I think due to my birthday and the wife not wanting to buy me kits this one has turned into the most after market stuff ever. Great fun though.

thanks guys, one and all.

Afternoon gents.

As I sit here a few hours before I head off to see the MIGHTY Iron Maiden beer in hand I'm contemplating nearing the end of this my first Acadamy build and my most third party stuff build evah.

i really thought I'd get it today but due to a few slight hiccups I think it's one maybe two posts away from completion. Let's begin with this mornings secret lemonade drinker mission.

first off the tyre treads looked so ace I thought I'd pick rack one out with German grey.

8C8AB9DB-6A73-4215-BC88-0087584EA2AE_zps7wgjavu3

took a while.

1A602998-A645-42FA-9B9D-0465B112017C_zpsj7bpeiuk

nice initial base though. Then the canopies got unmasked. Spot the error?

CDDC6192-4FF4-47CB-846C-35BAF5C9056F_zpsrijnjcun

As I had spotted it before glossing thanks to @Vadim's pics I didn't gloss that hump bit. A few swipes with Mr Collour thinners and.

9F293D58-3E5B-4EA7-AEF4-B8F1BA52D805_zpsmp8tjnvg

Blammo! There is the side panel to.

The nose got a pre shade and a blast of red.

9C68428C-9F9C-467A-870B-311C2A92258A_zpsuiucgzsw

and done.

1482DB32-7585-48A5-9B96-F207DA338408_zpsy8mwzyah

The tyres got a pigment pass.

0DF0B10A-3A8A-47BC-8922-17E4594A544F_zpscmogwuez

then toned down and assembled.

5055DAF0-A2AF-463E-9D78-2FD111B8677E_zpsbrffl411

the anti glare panels got Matt coated.

06AC1C9F-B310-4EAE-BECC-34D7FF69BC61_zpsk0nmqysv

All the bits got painted. Even the prop tips. :pilot:

462708BF-80C7-40F7-B278-BBBDBC570A31_zps2jbum3nu

Now this is where all my builds seem to falter. I dread removing the canopy masking due to unknown CrAzY and this build is no exception. Taking off the tape the inside had some blotchiness so I cotton budded it. Big mistake, I pinged off the target sight, lost the glass part and also pinged off the steering wheel.

but to be fair she looked pretty good on it.

0B31C928-49A1-4D4B-A57E-748F67CE279D_zps2uzj8aca

I managed to make a new glass sight and glue all the bits back on again. So no worries. Phew!.

fitting the wheels bought up the (oh hell the peg doesn't fit the hole) problem. So 20 mins later and lots of very careful scraping the wheels are on.

we are here and here she stays for another night.

F1280036-B69F-4A69-988F-67D7DFA97BA2_zpsdi4jv5zh

thank you all for following my little build. I'm off on my holibobs the week after next so this will be my last until I come back. I'll contemplate my build while away although I have an idea.

take care Y'all and happy Modelling.

Eddie says hi.

up the irons etc.

Johnny.

Impressive job on the tyres  And that last shot (no, not Eddie, the aircraft :) ) looks sooo realistic! :worthy:

Ciao

PS: I see we've all been through an Iron Maiden phase, haven't we? Being a young boy in the eighties, I had it then (and I think it was their best time IMHO)

Looking absolutely brilliant. Chipping on the olive panels looks perfect. It's always a relief when they stand up!

How cute are those gun- barrels?!

Good luck on the final stretch.

Lemmy from Motorhead used to drink in the Union hotel bar in Penzance. Had a few laughs with him - does that count??

The P-38 is looking great. I have to say that I was never big fan of Iron Maiden, more of a Pink Floyd man myself, although I did see Bruce Dickinson in his Dr1 replica  at Duxford a few years ago.

Ha! Great taste in music I see. X factor eh. There's a different opinion right there. I was never a fan of Blaze but the music was still solid. "Trooper" is a pretty sturdy pint, a session beer if you will.

oh and thank you for your kind words.

The guns are splendid aren't they. I got them in tonight. Look even better on the nose.

"Does that count" well that's a hell of an anecdote, I think it counts a lot, lemmy and Motörhead are / were amazing. Alas I never got to see them live. You're a lucky man.

The guns really do look good. I try not to go overboard with my AM purchases as it's easy to spend more on them than the base kit, but I think I will invest in them for some of my future 1/32 builds.
