The Spadgent
Quick update as my chance of Plastic looks slim over the next day or too. The tape was removed and I needed to check seams. not to bad off the bat but with a little sanding we are away. masking action and sponge added so I could get a primer test on. Psssssssst. pretty smart in my opinion. I need to re instate some panel lines on the cowl at the front and down the booms. Here's the top re scribed. im really happy with the way it's all slotted together. No real issues with the fit of parts even with the butt joins. the bottom wasn't quite as good and needs a little Mr S to help along but compared to what I'm used to it's pretty ace. I need to let that dry before sanding off a little. What do you mean you can't see where? the bit by the rear of the well and that roundish plate. I know terrible right. Oh the pain etc. fencing night with the boy tonight so that's yer lot. Im at a beer festival over the weekend so possibly some Bank holiday action? Fingers crossed. I wanna get that silver on. thank you all for the kind words and thanks as always for stopping by and indulging my ramblings. From a Black Country mon, here's to you guys. Happy modelling. Martian
I suppose beer festival could be considered a legitimate excuse. Martian

Biggles87
You'll never get a fence put up wearing that kit, you won't be able to see what you're doing, and what sort of hammer is that! The Lightning is looking good though. John

Grey Beema
Great progress being made here.. Great modelling going on... I used to be a fencer, it's a great sport, tell your son to keep it up. Lefties being less numerous than righties always have an advantage... You should give it a go yourself... Tomoshenko
Looking good Johnny. As a card carrying Brummie I gotta concede you Black Country folk know how to brew a good beer. Can't beat a nice Bathams. Holdens as damn good too, not forgetting Stourbridge's finest - Enville. Sorry to be a health and safety nanny, but fencing and beer...

Them movable wooden beams on the walls in the background me all nostalgick for the school gym and why I always had a sicknote for PE... Oh yes, the Lightnining looks most Optimal Primed. Optimal? Optimus? Oh never mind. 2 hours ago, Tomoshenko said: Sorry to be a health and safety nanny, but fencing and beer... Always wear a safety harness. Enjoy the festival Johnny. rob Lyttle
She's looking fantastic. No doubt about it! Did you ever come to a decision on the final decor scheme and nose- art, or is the jury still deliberating? Which ever, she's gonna look good.
The Spadgent
Thanks everyone! The beer festival was in Reading, an old friend of mine lives there and we try and go every year. Most of the brews were regional so nothing from the Midlands, alas. Yes Bathams and Envile are special to my heart too. see.... quite civilised really. Thanks to everyone for your comments they're much appreciated and welcome as it keeps up the momentum you know. I was awake early this morning so got more done on the P-38. All the seams are tidy so it was time to add the. It's and bobs ready for paint. The resin intakes got added. really nice to look at those. The front well got a base grey coat. And the canopies got an inner green base coat. as I had trouble with the canopy last time I tried a new approach and masked the insides with Tamiya tape instead of blue tac. worked really well, I don't know why I never thought of it before really. hey remember these? well with the addition of the sight after I attached the clear part I started to put the office back together. And back in order. Front. and back added, I nearly didn't paint the rim green but caught it just in time. I'm such a numpty. right then almost ready then this happened. I noticed that even though I had build internals for the booms you could actually see straight through. what a right royal pain up the Harris. Even with the PE parts added you could see sky. how I didn't notice this I don't know. Time to have a think about how on earth I'm going to fix this. I'll explain what happened later on. This post is turning into a mammoth and I don't want to loose it half way through. thank you all so much for taking time to look in on this. Slowly but surely we are getting there. By the way I decided on a scheme. im going for "Beautiful Bitch" I know it's not quite as rude as the other one but I can't get the yellow tail and red spinners out of my head. More in a bit. All the best and as always. Happy Modelling. johnny see through. Edited September 10, 2017 by The Spadgent

The Spadgent
Right then we gots holes.initially I decided to cut some plasticard and slot it in place to fill ze hole. It sounds easy right? Well that idea was, but it stood out too proud and looked awful. I spent a good half hour wrestling and trying to get the bloody thing glued to the inside edge of the boom to no avail. Almost gave up on it and considered cutting the booms off when I remembered quiche foil! And ten mins later we are here. a bit mirror finish at the moment but thin enough and it conformed to the curvature of the booms and above all solid. right then paint!!!!! nose masked. nice. I used tape for curves and regoolar. then the wells needed masking neatly. the office got masked too. the tail got primed white ready for its yellow coat later. and masked. The last few bits got a primer blast. aaaaaaaand huzzah and long last I got to lay down gloss black........ PING! oooooh sassy! nearly time for metal. that now needs to dry and hopefully I can get the silvers out later on. Hope you're all having a beautiful relaxed bank holiday, it's raining here hence the plastic. Fingers crossed it'll carry on. Thanks for popping in again. She's moving on now as I'm looking forward to the next step. All the best guys and HM Johnny quiche! On 01/05/2017 at 11:16 AM, Spookytooth said: A couple more pints ? LOL. Not quite.
