Actually started tonight, I'm swaying toward the Vagrant now although I love the BB. Good luck with your build. Are you doing a WIP? I may well do one (a WIP that is) as it's been a few models since I have. I am really losing the will to live with the current build and I may shelve it for now and start on this. Keep an eye out
DMC
Jeez, P-38s. Now you've done it. Had to dig under the F-86, F4u, and U2 to find the Minicraft and Monogram P-38s I started hacking into last year. Really wish I had carried on with those builds now, after following yours. Just the right amount of build and banter which looks as though it might go the distance (unlike mine, so far). I see you've had a couple of books recommended for reference. I have four on the P-38 and the Modelmania one is IMHO by far the best. Photos, colour profiles, pages of 3-views and a decal sheet in three scales. Maybe a little short on the history but hard to beat, really. Cheers Dennis

The Spadgent
A little more done today. After I had decided to use the kit part for the tub front I had to push the IP position forward a tad. I popped some Tamiya tape into the position and drew around the extremities with a pencil, pulled off the tape and placed onto some plasticard and cut out the shape. it wourked really well, I'll use this process again. I cut off the button panel from the resin part to fit the kit part later on. All good. Dexter is doing me proud. As I had removed the cowling I had to make a stall for the sight. Like this. Luckily some edging from the resin parts was the right size and shape so I drilled a hole in the end and fitted the sight, sawed in half and angled. brilliant. All the bits are now ready for Primer. I'm bending the PE parts into shape this time before painting so I don't get cracked paint while fitting later. All the little levers got added. (So small) and blobbed with gator grip to give the tips a rounded profile. Then blasted with primer. I need to make dinner now so paint will have to wait. Thanks for popping in. Hope you all are having a great sunny weekend. Happy Modelling. Johnny Edited September 10, 2017 by The Spadgent
Howlindawg
Well that's a new use for Gator Grip! The pit looks excellent - busy enough but not overdone.

corsaircorp
Hello spad, you're faster than I'm, Congratulations. Do,'t you worry for the cowling, on the real thing, it's just a kind of tarpaulin. Sometimes, that's even not fitted, but that mean the back of the instuments are visible. Ho is there at third Lightning building on his way ?? I just paid a look back at the MP Flying Circus, are you the brain specialist ??, My brain hurt !! Very nice job, I'll save the Monogram interior with some improvement and use the Brassin parts on the Academy. You did'nt fear to loose the tiny lever ? because they will pop from the cockpit for a long time of work ? See you tomorrow, for dinner I did roasted Chicken breast in a dragon cream sauce with some tagliatelles, with a little chardonnay, Mrs CC like it, me too, the kid are eating. Tomorrow, it will be beans and dick, USMC kitchen, the kids like it far more than chicken breast Sincerely. corsaircorp
rob Lyttle
Those resin parts are really showing their class in these photos now. It's clear why you went the extra mile to accommodate them. Good one...! (Love the wee crock clips on sticks in foam method👍)

I am indeed worried about the Little levers but fingers crossed they'll stay on. your roast dinner sounds scrummy. Yes it is lovely and a lot les trouble when it's designed for the kit you're using. I couldn't work without my little clips and foam. 19 hours ago, Martian Hale said: Nice progress Johnny! The Spadgent
Evening lovely people of BritModeller. I have managed to eek along nicely and get some painting done and some.... well you'll see. First off after the priming I did a dark pre shade and a quick blast of the boxes. then being stubborn and going to the LMS and picking up XF67 I sprayed everything a shade of Kermit. I added some yellow green XF 4 to lighten and added some highlights. I'm happy with that. I left that to dry and did this. What on earth!!! i had to let that dry so I brush painted the black detail on the tub in a more crisp fashion. that'll be left now and I'll paint the details tomorrow. Now on with the mystery item. I've decided to test out my four shades of silver on a Mule. (An unused Part from my seafire build) I'm using Vallejo metal colour as it's acrylic and I've had good results in the past, although I have only lightly sprayed it and have thinned with Tamiya thinners. Apparently you don't need to thin it so I'm going for a test run. I have Dull aluminium. Duraluminium. Chrome and steel. I have labelled the sections A B C D you can just see the letters albeit in backwards order on the lower parts of the wing. They all look great and I'm struggling to take a worthy shot but it's not possible. I'll pop a pot in the shot so you can see the shiny. this is A (dull aluminium) and B (steel) and C (Duraluminium) D (Chrome) I have sprayed a thick coat without thinner and found that it goes on really well especially the dull aluminium it's really, really nice to look at.. I think I'll use all apart from steel as I want some panel variation. I need to try some post shading using Tamiya smoke. Another new for me. any hoo, I'm calling it a night. More tomorrow. thanks you for stopping by. All the best and as always. Happy Modelling. Johnny silver man. Leonl
That Vallejo metal looks the biz... I've have inconsistent results with Vallejo sometimes great other times it clogs the airbrush every spray. Any issues here?

Miggers
Trick I learned with Alclad, paint the victi,er,plastic surface with Kleer and let it dry out for a day. Once it's gorn orf, mist yer Alclad on(as they tell 'ee to do anyway),coupla skinny coats,woo-hoo,smoove shiny Alclad that also sticks like sh,er,effluent to a blanket.

I did get oddness when I thinned it but zero thinner created zero problems.
