What was I thinking?

Not sure if this is buyers remorse, but for some reason I've just bought a 1/72 scale Magna models vc-10, I've never built a full resin kit before and what's swmbo going to say when it arrives in the post ?

Wally in Oz has a request in the trades section

for a VC 10 in that scale.

You could say you bought it for him but he then

changed his mind. See, transfer the blame and

he's on the other side of the planet so he's safe.

Great idea, now just got to figure out where to put it.

Do you actually plan to  (as distinct from actually wish to) build it?  I find it's best to have a plausible plan to build and Mrs P. never minds.

I plan to build it sometime after I've built the airfix victor, valiant, nimrod and sentry I've also bought since Christmas.

You explain to her that you felt obliged to do all of us Britmodellers a big favour by buying this kit and just when you finish it Airfix announce their 2017 Christmas kit.

Hopefully like mine though she will be past caring..if not ..as John says..................

Look her in the eye, gird up your loins and say "I earned the money, I'll bally well spend it on what I want."

Don't blame me if it ends badly, I'm happily divorced and single.

That's the excuse I used on the valiant.

Compared to some of you chaps I'm such a slow builder that if I said something like that it would mean I was never going to build it.

Quick, before it arrives go out and buy her a nice pair of shoes.

How about "Guess how much money I saved when I bought this?" - it's what my wife normally says to me.

Might have to resort to the 'it was a bargain' logic then.

Can't you tell her you're intending to build her a pair of waterproof shoes for the rainy season from the fuselage shells?  Won't work if it's a solid casting, of course. In that case, however, you'd have a very powerful weapon of self defence in your hands.

In which case you hide it in the loft, only to get it down at a later date and say ‘Blimey, I bought this cheap years ago at a model show for a fraction of what I should have paid. Got myself a bargain there’.

Just remember the innocent poker face.

Exactly what I was thinking, just under the bed instead of the loft.

Word to the wise. Check out the decal sheet when it arrives. Chris

Under the bed will only work if you do the cleaning. I suggest the Hobbyroom or the cellar, somewhere where she hasn't a full overview.

There's that many under there that another one might not be noticed. If you see it on the for sale section, you know I've been busted :)

Easy way out if you have some largish boxes ***and*** it arrives unnoticed :Spread the contents over one or several boxes. The Sentry one may be just what the doctor ordered 😊
