Arctic Aggressor. Tamiya's 1/48 F-16C

Recommended Posts

Latest one off the production line and the first for this year this is my take on Tamiya's 1/48 F-16 Aggressor painted in the colours of the 18th Aggressor Squadron based at Eielson AFB in Alaska in the attractive Arctic scheme.

Built pretty much OOTB with only a couple of added extras such as the static wicks. The kit builds quite nicely but is not the easy and perfect build that some claim, at least it wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong it is a nice kit and builds well but you need to take care on a couple of parts of the build, mostly the intake.

Painted with Hataka paints which were like coloured grit and will not be used again.

This kit was built as part of the ongoing F-16 STGB which is well worth a look as there are some cracking builds on there.

Very nice Artic Aggressor you have created. I have the same one in my stash. I hope mine will come out as good as yours.

I have to agree with youmthat the aggressor colors schemes look good on the F-16.

Thanks for sharing.

Excellent stuff, I too have the Hataka paint set, hopefully I can get it on ok...

Thanks Simon,

I hope your paint goes on better than mine, I have heard that newer batches of the paint are better.

Great-looking F-16 in an interesting scheme. There is no evidence of the problems you had with the coloured grit!

Thanks Alpha,

It took a fair bit of sanding with micromesh to get it smooth and it's still not perfect in some of the more difficult to reach places.

Thanks Jan,

I'm sure yours will turn out great, and yes the F-16 looks great in aggressor colours and I will build more in the different schemes from the kit and some aftermarket sheets I have.

Thanks Glynn,

Give the Hataka paints a try first, apparently the newer batches don't suffer from the same problem as mine did.
